Heard of this place before we even set foot in Hilo. We try to go without any expectations so we are not easily disappointed. The restaurant is layed out like an old diner with lots of benches and a few tables in the center. I don't know where 'House of Pancakes' comes from because the menu is extensive. The portions... Diner food with a twist. Not like the diners in New Jersey but good food, expect to wait during the busy times. Made fresh, reasonably priced, not the best décor but for Hawaii a good value for your money.

The menu is vast and eclectic. The owner brings back new style of food from his trips. For example he brought back Chicken and Waffles from a visit to LA Not a bad attempt. The most difficult thing is to make a decision on what great dish to have. From local cuisine to mainland deli favorites and beyond. I always... More

This place is disgusting! In fact I'm still sitting in the restaurant disgusted writing my review. The place is an old dirty diner serving old food. I ordered a bowl of noodles and it's no different from instant noodles and even then the noodles were undercooked! The pork had an old oily taste and you can the chicken skewer was... More

Good old fashion coffee shop with "Local" touch to many of their menu items. This is a must stop at least once every time we travel to the Big Island. Yes, sometimes the service is slow, but you are in the islands and at times things move slowly. No reservations required and usually no wait. If really hungry go for... More

Ken's House of Pancakes is a little Diner sitting right at the corner of highway 11 and Kamehameha ave. You can't miss it. The diner's setting is really old school and just as slow. We sat for a good 20 mins before anyone even realized we were there. The food made up for it though. Large portions and great taste.... More

This is a great coffee shop. Love the atmosphere with relatively good service. The coffee is great and the syrup selection is on point. Great for families

This restaurant is everything you would expect from a traditional pancake house. The food was great and the portions were huge. One item that really stood out for me was the hash browns, they were excellent.

From traditional breakfast, to local favorites to health-conscious choices, Ken's has it all! And not just breakfast! Any time of day, you can order anything on the menu, and it will be served with a huge helping of aloha! This is where the locals go - for an early breakfast or a midnight meal, and everything in between!
