This is a very small place with about 4 tables and a counter with seats at the window. I got the pork, my husband got the curry, and our daughter got the shrimp. Everything was delicious and the portions were very generous. We are so...More

I visited this terrible restaurant for linch in Dec.28th. Condition of dining; very durty Service; poor (Server of this restaurant mistook the order, but she never approving and said you said so.) Dishies; poor I think there are no...More

Probably one of the best meals we had on the island. An unassuming utilitarian cafe on the main drag, we thought we would give it a try. Mind blown. Asked our server what was the house faves - on her recommendation husband had the lamb...More

First stop after arriving into Hilo. Had the Katsu, wife had ahi pocket. Both fresh hot and delicious. Lady that served us was extremely friendly and took the time to explain the menu.

A great little hole-in-the-wall for lunch. Simple food done right and served hot. The scallop plate, lamb pita, chicken pita, and katsu chicken were all excellent.

Come hungry! I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at Puka Puka. We had lunch there because of the high trip advisor reviews. Be prepared, the place is small....the atmosphere is pretty simple. Not quite a hole in the wall, but...More

Puka Puka (Hawaiian for lots of holes, or little hole) Kitchen by far beats a lot of places around Hilo for both character, hospitality and amazing flavors! It's very humble, having only 3 tables and a window counter long enough for 3 small people or...More

This super-friendly, unpretentious and tiny cafe was interesting because it serves locally inspired food. I ordered the lunch special, about $9 for chicken katsu, salad and a strange curry rice. The chicken was greasy and overbreaded. The rice was so full of turmeric and/or curry...More
