If I were to describe my experience at this restaurant in one word it would be “catfished”. The photos of the space and the food online look magazine-worthy and the reviews are raving. I do not know who made the food that was photographed, but...it certainly did not come from their kitchen. I ordered the burger and regretted it sorely. I did not know until today that someone could f*ck up a burger to that extent. The pattie was so charred I felt like I was eating a shoe sole that had been stored in a grill for 3 years. If I ever get cancer in the future I am going to sue this place for causation. I would have been five million times more pleased with a Big Mac. If I were a waiter there and I ate this burger, I would quit on the spot in shame.
The wine they served was so warm that it tasted like cough syrup, and when questioned about the temperature they insisted “they don’t chill their red wines.” I’m sorry, but who stores wine at 82 degrees.
The ambiance was also unpleasant and not what I expected based on the photos. The music made me feel like I was at a college party in 1993 hosted by the least desirable fraternity, and the lighting was dim.
I will say the service was very good. Our waitress was super nice and accommodating and our food (albeit nasty) arrived quickly.
I am honestly horrified that this place could have such incredible reviews. If you are planning on eating in Kilauea, PLEASE for the love of god stay away from this place!!! We ate at “Palate Wine Bar” next door that, while unassuming from outside, had far better food at a lower price.More

looks like you dont like local establishments but I am glad you liked my other restaurant Palate. I own both, same same.
The Bistro had been recommended and last night we tried it. Fabulous food! Extremely hard working employees, and wonderful environment. It was a perfect example of what the North Shore is all about. The chicken Marsala was one of the best I have ever had....(Plan on leftovers! Generous serving.!) My husband had grilled ahi and he ate and enjoyed every bite? The lilikoi lemon martini was so good he had two! Go! Enjoy! Plan ahead and get a reservation!More
It was nice to be back! This is a locals place, and one of our favorites. Not fancy, just always great, friendly service and food to keep coming back for. Prices have gone up, but everything else on our island home had too. Unless you...get the fish, the portions are big enough for lunch a day later. (The fish is, too, but I'm not a fan of leftover fish.) 2 salads, 2 entrees, 1 mai tai = $92 + tipMore
We went there with a recommendation from The Cliffs at Princeville for dinner. I am gluten free and have several food allergies. They were willing to work with me for my meal. My steak was delicious! We would go back anytime.
I love this place! My family and I always feel so welcomed and taken care of, and the food is delicious every time. We are beyond grateful that the Bistro is listening to health professionals and protecting the community. This restaurant is an amazing example...to all businesses working during covid :) Thank you!!More
