We were disappointed with the quality of the fish as well as with the rolls that did not hold together at all necessitating use of fingers instead of chopsticks. They also do not have a liquor license but do have a sign on the bar that advertises BYOB.

Masa and his wife (I didn't get her name) run this small, comfortable, amazing sushi shop on Kaua'i. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, surpassed only by the owners themselves. They have a world map and a US map for you to put a pin in for where you're from. It's great. I ordered the Sunset roll (hamachi, tuna) and... More

Ive had good sushi in Hawaii and Ive had terrible sushi in Hawaii, thankfully Masas is one of the very good Sushi joints on Kauai. Very small hole in the wall joint with one lone japanese uncle preparing the food. Service was good, its also BYOB so stop at the store if want any liquor with your meal. Wait times... More

WORST SUSHIS ever! WORST service ever! (the Japanese cook looked nice but the young waitress was very impolite and when we told her that we couldn't even take our sushis because they were made so badly she answered that it is normal) We love sushis and ate them all over the world but Masas Sushis in Kauai was the worst... No, it's not the best I've ever had by any means by being from Vancouver Canada we are used to some high end sushi places. For a middle of the road sushi place it was really good. The only thing I didn't really care for was the Ahi, but that can happen with any fish anywhere. The hamachi was very... More

I'm sorry to give a bad review to this Japanese couple, both of them very likeable and running a sweet little sushi bar. Truth is, I can't remember when I last had sushi that was so disappointing. All, I say all, the various types of fish in the chirashi deluxe were tasteless at best, if not outright nasty. It's quite... More

Decent sushi at a reasonable price. The couple that own/server are so kind. You may wait a while, but it's cozy and authentic. Flavor is average. Fish is fresh. Scallops were impressive. In all: worth trying, though I'm sure there's a better option somewhere.

I ate here with my friends for dinner and we loved it! I love it when you can eat at the sushi bar with the chef right there. The service was super friendly. The owner is Japanese and I loved getting to practice my Japanese language skills a little. The sushi tasted just like sushi I ate in Japan. I... More

Such a great find! The sushi was fresh and delicious. The chef was delightful and entertaining and the service prompt.

This is as local as you get. Not many sushi places in Kauai so people might love to know about this tiny hole in the wall. Excellent and inexpensive and fresh.
