Even though we were here a little less than 18 months ago (pretty good for East Coast mainlanders), it was just too long. What a great spot for some of the best grilled burgers you can get anywhere in the world.....local beef, lamb, venison, elk, and even a veggie burger. My wife is hooked on the local 'nuisance' deer (hey,... More

After a fabulous day of sightseeing at Haleakala Crater, we were in need of food before wine tasting at Ulupalakua Vineyards. Across the road from the winery sits this ranch store. An assortment of burgers with meat all raised on their ranch. Elk, venison, lamb and beef. Out of elk so we chose venison for something different. Very tasty...not gamey... More

Never would have thought that we'd be getting an Elk Burger in Hawaii, but it was great! The store was cool and fun to check out. Right across the street from the winery.

Chef Will makes you feel like ohana and the food is out of this world scrumptious. We asked Will what condiments he recommended as we had never had elk burgers before. He suggested taste it first before adding anything- oh, my! It was so good we didn't add a thing- oh except the largest avocado we had ever seen- on... More

The best Lamb burger I have ever had! Great little country store. The folks that run it are fun and inviting! Love the pic opportunities with all the "guests" who don't ever leave. If you are coming from Hana (all the way around) you can't miss it. If you are headed up from Paia, just keep driving. Panoramic views will... More

Who knew they raised elk in Maui, right?! This grilled burger was seriously good. If you go for the wine tasting, you've got to stop across the street for lunch.

beef, elk, lamb, venison. They grow them all at the ranch and you can eat them all in burger form at the general store grill. You can even get larger cuts to take home. Super tasty and the perfect stop for your back road drive to Hana. Not a quick stop but worth it

When you come on up to visit us at Ulupalakua, you'll find it's not just about the drive. These days, it's about the food. "We're becoming a food destination," says Will Munder, Executive Chef of Ulupalakua Ranch Store & Grill. Mosey up to the counter, and you'll still find all the classic Ranch favorites, but the good stuff just got better. Now everything is made from scratch and as local as we can get it. The Ulupalakua lamb, beef and famous elk are part of our commitment to serve only meat from the Ranch or from Maui. And thanks to Upcountry's abundance. The bustling Grill gets crates of fresh local lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, pineapple, herbs and more, every morning.

Reminders of times gone by are everywhere inside the Ulupalakua Store, from the sepia-toned photos on the walls to the cowboy hats on the shelves. The Store is a happy place of simple things, good things. Our motto here at Ulupalakua Ranch is: "Happy People." Plain and simple.
