My 17-year-old daughter and I arrived when they opened. I wanted to run back out, for the stench was horrible! It was as if the toilet had overflowed! She agreed, but because other people were staying, we thought it was just us. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. This could have been a 6-star rating had the... More

I love home fries and eggs and cordial service. Pat's had all this inside a wonderfully warm and old-school café. The only bad part was that we lingered too long and missed our flight out of SanFran Int'l!

Pat's has great character and great food and reasonable prices. I loved my corned beef hash and eggs and my husband was very happy with his crepe. I look forward to a return visit. It's close to the cable car origin.

Visited Pat's cafe whilst I'm SF for breakfast having seen online. It is a colourful, cheerful little place. I had the pancakes with strawberries and Nutella and it was awesome. The pancakes were soft and fluffy and it was smeared in Nutella in between each pancake with plenty of strawberries. All 4 of us enjoyed it so much we came... More

We kept coming back for breakfast and lunch. So much better than he tourist trap places at Fishermans wharf. Great freshly prepared food and friendly staff. Totally recommend this place.

Recommended for breakfast on our first day near the fisherman's wharf district. Close tables, but not overbearing and the service was great. And you see Patrick buzzing around making sure all is in order. You can see the genuine pride taken in her staff and the place. Typical American breakfast served which was a joy. Very nice place and then... More

We came for breakfast and were able to get a table right away. Food was very good and staff was friendly. They noticed a wobble in our table and came right over to adjust!

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
