Visited Jardiniere to try the famous 'Impossible Burger'. I was initially reasonably impressed with the vibe of this restaurant but was a bit bewildered with their management of the dining room. There was a lot of standing around and waiting, yet lots of available tables. Eventually, we were seated at a table and provided with menus. The starters came out... More

Totally does what it set out to do. Interesting, inviting two level ambience. Bar looked like a good place to be. Good buzz, not noisy, great service (as always in SF). Strong but expensive wine list. Home made foie gras as a highlight but we all enjoyed our dishes - duck, lamb.

Jardiniere is simply one of the most romantic restaurants in San Francisco. You are sure to have an enchanting evening if you have dinner there. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful! There are two floors to the place: the oval bar on the first floor is a fun, happening place (not this visit, but at one not long ago we even... More

No doubt that both floors, downstairs and upstairs provide with a great sensation of calm, luxury and taste. Our waiter was excellent, stylish, slightly overdoing (praising our wine choice). The sommelier was professional, except when pouring wine by twisting his left fist to the left, which is normaly against the etiquette. The menu : I was a bit surprised to... More

My husband and I had reservations for an early dinner before a show at the Orpheus. The bar and lounge were lively but the main dining room was upstairs. We were lead to a table in the middle by a set of stairs. I asked for a quieter spot and our hostess ran off to check. Seriously? There were only... More

Made our annual trip and they still do well. We both had the sole and it was perfect. Winter vegetable soup very tasty and light chocolate dessert was great ending. They make great Manhattans

The Jardiniere is a beautiful restaurants that spread over two floors. It provides top class friendly service, and a nice but rather small menu of fresh dishes. The food was good and we had a great evening. Prices are rather high, but not outrageous.

It was pouring rain the evening I arrived at Jardiniere. The restaurant provided a welcoming respite from the storm. We ate at a table on the second floor and I was really struck by the beauty of this restaurant. The tabes were set around a central atrium the ceiling of which glowed with tiny lights. Our dinner was perfectly timed... More

It's location. It's the high arts. It feels like our version of Rome. But it is just a business. Some magic . . . maybe. But it is a very, very distant destination from Rome.

Neighbourhood Profile
Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things government and performance-related in the city. Although its streets are best walked during daytime, numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz center offer year round entertainment within the shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold tipped dome of City Hall.
