They must have changed the chef because this place is terrible now. I have eaten here for 15 years and this visit was so bad I'll never go back. I talking 80% of the dishes were bad. What a disappointment because I loved this place.

The chicken tikka masala, eaten with garlic naan, could be the best bite of food I have EVER eaten. As a big fan of Indian food, the difference between this food and other, typical Indian fare, is palpable. Whenever I go to San Francisco, I visit Indian Oven. On this visit, with my wife, she was as blown away as... More

Indian Oven was nice, but nothing special. We had a starter, a main, rice and naan to share and it came to $32 which is very reasonable. Waiting staff were okay, but not overly enthusiastic. Food was nice enough though not full of taste!

Loved this restaurant, good food, not too spicy, great nans (the one with dried fruit was original and good). The place is beautiful, with large bright windows.

It seems to be a theme in the USA in Indian restaurants, that you can have any dish at any strength of heat of you want. This means that the dishes mostly look and taste the same. This place was just that, the food was alright, but it could be much better, after all, a Madras is usually hot, and... More

On a down day we decided to order take out, Indian Oven was recommended to us. They delivered quickly and the guy was lovely. There are plenty of vegetarian options and the food is really delicious. The sides and starters are lush too. Please come to the U.K 😍

We had a very good dinner here but portions were so large we could have had one portion between two of us.

When you're asked in an Indian restaurant how hot/mild you want your particular curry it's always a bad sign. Ours was cheap boiled meat with the sauce dumped on top of it, looked horrible and didn't taste of anything much at all. We sent back the draft lager because it was cloudy (end of barrel) and we saw the waiter... More

We went there for lunch around 2.45 PM on a Sunday afternoon after visiting Golden gate bridge. It was closing time for most of the restaurant and we found " closed " sign in many places. This restaurant was open. We ordered Indian biriyani, nan, pannir mutter, dosa and other items. The taste was bland and we were disappointed. Only... More

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighbourhood Profile
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighbourhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
