As a fan of big American breakfasts this was certainly worth the wait. It helps to get there early but if you are in a group and there before 9am, you can break up the wait and take turns to visit the impressive St Peter...More

First this is worth the wait. We arrived around 9. We waited in line outside a little over an hour. You go in the door order and then are seated and the food is brought out. We got the coffee cake as an appetizer, it...More

There is a permanent queue outside this small restaurant but don't be put off by this as it is well worth the wait. We queued for around half an hour to 45 mins but this was one of our favourite restaurants in SF. Once inside...More

Don't believe the other reviews that tell you that Mamas is not worth the 45 minute wait. It absolutely is! My family and I had a life changing breakfast. My kids shared the cinnamon chocolate French toast which was absolutely delicious. My husband had the...More

Whenever you go to mama's you have to wait for at least 40 minutes. On weekends you could end up waiting for 2 hours but it is totally worth waiting. The food is incredibly amazing. Delicious in big portions. I can say it's a tourist...More

The food is great here but there's usually around a 45 minute wait to get in. Best time to go would be at breakfast, but get there at least half an hour before opening if you want to get in. I really enjoyed my eggs...More

Not sure if the line is worth the wait. Food was ok but nothing special. i think that there are other places where you can eat the same stuff.

45 minutes wait in the queue for average Benedicts and open-faced omelette. A touristy overrated place u should skip if you're on a tight schedule.

Go early! We got there at 8:00 on a Saturday morning and waited about 30 minutes. It was fun to watch the locals across the street in Washington Square. The breakfast was delicious! My husband loved the California Omelette and the rest of us had...More

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.

It is available all day, so you can have it for breakfast-before 11am. Even though it is listed under sandwiches from 11am- it says next to the Monte Cristo "available all day". Enjoy!

The longest wait was 45 minutes. Typical wait is 20-25. I haven't seen anyone order from the line. Once you are in, ordering, seating and food service is very efficient!

Description
Established in 1951.
The family of Mama and Papa Sanchez, serves up traditional and innovative breakfast dishes in "Little Italy", the famous North Beach District in San Francisco. Across the street from the beautiful Washington Square Park, Mama's legions of fans line up early and throughout the day. We use the freshest of local products, imported Italian meats to fill our fluffy omelettes, homemade jam, fresh baked breads, pastries and other delectable dishes. We invite you to try our little restaurant and become part of the Mama's Family.
