Well prepared, fresh and flavorful food. Very sophisticated flavorings. The staff was incredibly friendly and the service was excellent. A great local spot for

We have always enjoyed this local Italian restaurant but on our most recent visit it has lost some appeal. The food selections do not seem to be as varied and the neighborhood does not seem as charming. Something is different and I would not recommend this as highly as I have in recent years. Risoto was not as good as... More

We had dinner here with our adult children after Christmas shopping. It was one of the few restaurants we could get into with a last minute reservation. That should have been my clue. The menu selection is great, and the food is not bad. That being said, the food isn't real good either. The wine? Ummm. They need some help... More

I really enjoyed my evening at Brindisi. First off when I checked out the restaurant the day before the bartender was very accommodating and really engaging. As such, I decided I would dine there the next day. As a guy from Boston the opportunity to eat outside in mid November couldn't be passed up. Temp was about 60 and there... More

I enjoy the experience of Belden place and have eaten as several restaurants. Its a quaint little alley way/street with many choices. The service at Brindisi was fine, very pleasant, warm people. The food was just average. I had the pasta with prawns, which I was told is one of the most popular dishes. Is this something waiters are trained... More

While my colleagues enjoyed their meal, I must say I wasn't impressed - I think people tend to like this place because of its trendy location (Belden Lane). I had the beef tagliata - it was pretty good, but very small portion. Good thing my colleague couldn't finish her ravioli! The tiramisu was quite bad - I have tiramisu whenever... More

We were looking for a place with an oyster happy hour. When we arrived my son's classmate had already ordered 8 oysters and a mixed drink. We were seated outdoors (happy hour required seating and presented with menus and a drinks list. My son ordered a mixed drink, I ordered a beer and my wife ordered a glass of white... More

This was a bit of a surprise as the restaurant is located in a lane with a number of other restaurants. We were talked into going in and were very glad that we were. Whilst badged as an Italian restaurant it specialises in local seafood. I had the house special linguine and it was something special. My wife had the... More

Brindisi Cucina Di Mare, 98 Belden Pl., SF, CA 94104, tel. 415-593-8000, web: http://brindisicucina.com/. We went for the Dine About Town lunch for $18.95. We had the Tagliatelle with boar and the roasted chicken. The tagliatelle was good and had lots of boar. The roasted chicken was on the dry side. Dimitri liked the potatoes. Our server, Cathryn was good.... More

We had a family dinner with two kids. The Belden Place alley was recommended by our hotel concierge, and Brindisi seemed to offer something for everyone in the family. The dinner got off to a bad start when a giant cockroach attacked my wife. There was some drama as the staff chased the bug around the table and the restaurant... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
