Ate here twice for lunch while working in the area and was super impressed. The menu is straightforward but everything I tried was really good. I definitely recommend the tacos (small). The decor, atmosphere, and service are all good. Absolutely a place you should try if you are in the area.

I met out-of-state Mexican friends at El Metate. They live in the Northeast where authentic Mexican food is hard to come by. They pronounced the burritos "excellent". This is a restaurant where you order and pay at the bar, then wait staff brings your order to the table. I ordered chile relleno, as it's something I can't easily make at... More

When we moved to San Francisco we lived a block away from here and ate burritos every day. I miss those days. We still order in from here and it's still as yummy. The food is cleaner and fresher than many other hole in the wall joints. It's not greasy like el farrolito for instance. I get the steak super... More

We pitched up outside for a beer whilst watching the day of the dead procession and stayed for dinner! Authentic Mexican food with a great atmosphere.

We dropped in purely because we needed a toilet stop. So, this is what you have to do when travelling and the public restroom scene is very limited. There was a police patrol car out front and the cops were having a snack, therefore a safe option. There was a choice of 6 or so coffees on the menu and... More

The burritos are perfectly sized and delicious. I prefer the fish and chile verde burritos. The tacos are also great.

Low key, friendly Mexican. Great neighborhood spot. You can pick up or sit down. Nothing fancy or foodie - just classic Mexican dishes.

It's the kind of place where you go in, order at the counter and find a seat. The decor is cute and whimsical but not luxurious. The food is good, authentic, sturdy portions and great prices. I can't understand the bad review someone put up...probably expecting a more catered to experience? This is not that kind of place but it... More

I know lots of folks love this place, but I've had nothing but bad, under impressive, mediocre food. I've had food from there 5 or 6 times. Each time I think, 'this time will be better', but I'm consistently proved wrong. Everything I've eaten has either come back on me or made me sick. It's not seasoned well and extremely... More
