Spending time in San Francisco, working for clients that are Asian and vegetarian. The constant reliance on Chinese food simply was getting old, so I took my clients to this wonderful establishment. Now, its not showy, but it is great food. It was a hit with the client. The only downside is parking -- there is none. You have to... More

New Eritrea Restaurant is the best of Ethiopian Food. Tucked away on the west side of San Francisco, this is a truly enjoyable experience. Located at 907 Irving Street it is easy to find. I like dining in the back dining room because of the glass ceiling and closer to the kitchen so you can smell all of the beautiful... More

We ate a New Eritrea recently and quite enjoyed it. Super nice people working there, good food, and great for vegetarians. Yes, you eat with your hands. Yes, you use injira (steamed flatbread) to scoop up the food. Yes, it's all stew-like dishes. Yes, you share with the people you're eating with. Yes, it's really good -- that's how eating... More

I was craving Ethiopian food one day when I visited San Francisco last January. Though there are several Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurants in SF listed in Yelp, this is the one closest to my hotel. It is also conveniently located near a MUNI Tram line (N Line), so I chose this over others. Since I rarely eat meat these days, I order... More

I loved this place. Located 907 Irving at 9th in the UCSF Medical Center area, but a bit west. If you have never eaten Ethiopian food, you must try. All served family style or you can get an individual plate. We enjoyed the Gored Gored (beef):- Cubes of tenderloin tips served rare in awaze & butter dip (spicy) and took... More

A nicely decorated restaurant with warm and friendly people serving delicious Eritrean/Ethiopian food on their country's signature fermented and spongy teff bread called injera. I love getting the veg combo plate for the number of people we have and gorge with our hands and injera on the delicious variety of foods before us. It is *always* a treat to come... More

Went to this place for my birthday and we started off with a Saint George Ethiopian Lager Beer (Excellent) and a bottle of Red South African Wine (also excellent) we ordered two plates of food, one for our vegetarian friends and one for the meat eaters. The veggie plate was good but the okra was especially so. The meat tray... More

My sister and brother-in -law took me there last week. We had a great meal, and I liked the Ethiopian Hony wine as it complemented the food. The injera was spongy and fresh and soaked up the beautiful flavours of the vegetarian and prawn dishes we selected. be prepared to eat without implements and to share the food directly off... More

The restaurant gets very busy and seems to be quite popular. This was our first time so we ordered the Vegetarian sampler for two. It wasn't very much food. I didn't think the flavors were strong enough. We noticed other people who got meat dishes had much more food. I didn't care for their spongy bread. We ordered a meat... More

Someone needs to change the stats on this restaurant because they don't have a buffet and the most expensive entree on the menu is only $12.50. Three of us decided on New Eritrea only because it was close to where we were staying and we had never had Ethiopian food before, let alone, Eritrean. The latter was apparently a small... More
