We arrived on New Years Eve without a reservation and they were so accommodating and the dinner was delicious. I was suggest the San Francisco Chicken with Sun-Dried tomato and artichoke. They have a nice reasonable wine list as well as a selection of beer.

The restaurant is rather intimate. Our table for two was in the corner and a little cramped. However, the food was great. We began with the Bruschetta. The four cheese gnocchi and chicken marsala were very good. The service was okay. The kitchen "lost" our...More

The best Italian food in San Francisco. Reasonably priced and excellent service. We have been coming here for 10 years and Mona Lisa never disappoints .

North Beach offers fantastic Italian cuisine. But GF options can be (understandably) hard to come by. My wife, who has celiac, had the penne with a rich bolognese sauce and declared it "outstanding." The staff was very accommodating. The interior lighting and ambiance really added...More

We have visited this restaurant many times over the last 20 years and we have never been disappointed. We ordered a safron infused pasta with panchetta which was a beautiful color with the safron threads visible. The wood fired pizza was fresh and the limonchello...More

So we were in town for the weekend Raiders game and I knew I had to eat here again. My friend is not big on Italian food but he loved this place. The atmosphere, food, and the staff reminds me of Italy. Best Italian food...More

We stopped for a drink mid afternoon during our wandering around the area, and were made to feel really welcome, despite not wanting to order a meal. There was absolutely no pressure to do so, but we decided to order a starter of bruschetta between...More

We were actually on our way to another Italian restaurant in the area when the friendly host/owner of this quaint spot started chatting with us. He was from Italy and the place looked charming so we spontaneously decided to stop. I'm so glad we did!...More

We went to Mona Lisa for Saturday lunch and found it disappointing. My husband and I each ordered a bowl of minestrone soup and we split a pizza. Our friends had pasta dishes. The minestrone was bland, watery, and very over-priced at about $10 for...More

My friend and I were really excited to try this restaurant that a local had recommended for our one Italian meal in San Francisco. Nothing we had was special; however, the prices were extraordinarily high for a lunch time meal, regardless of the quality. He...More

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.
