A meal here isn't a cheap proposition but that isn't what this place is about. The menu, the mood, the decor and ambience all point to this being about a quality experience and amazing food. This is the kind of place you go for an anniversary meal or a special date, or a birthday etc as it isn't for the... More

Had a reservation and still waited 45 minutes for a table. Slow service. Food was ok. High portions. My chicken came with 2 patties. I took one home. very expensive. This place is overrated.

We made a reservation for 7 and were seated immediately. Our party ordered the Lasagna, Lobster Ravioli, and Alfredo. All three items were amazing and would highly advise trying them. We also had the Flute Limoncello which had the best flavor and a welcomed delight after the pasta. I would recommend this to anyone that loves Italian the menu has... More

We have been here before, many times over the years. The pasta is great, the owner is super dedicated to good food and service, and the wait staff chat back and forth all night in Italian. Not a plastic, boring adventure. If you want total quiet...go to a mortuary. If you want your serve to do something special, done before... More

From the interesting handmade Fiat parked out front to the entertainment industry celebrities that Maurizio has met over the years, you know this place is unique and quite diverse in their menu offerings. Stick with what they do best !!!! Antipasti and a good bottle of wine to start. Get a good primitivo or montepulciano recommended by staff. Skip the... More

We were greeted with a friendly and enthusiastic staff and seated by the window. Waiters were friendly and knowledgeable- they were also attentive to our needs without hovering. Food was good; we will return.

MONA LISA RESTAURANT It was the day after Christmas My wife and I went to North Beach Mona Lisa Restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The place was a quarter occupied, the service was slow, it took our waiter a good 10 minutes to greet us and take our drinks order (we were not in any hurry, just mentioning) the bread... More

My wife and I wanted a nice Italian dinner but didn't know where to go as we have never been to SF. We stumbled upon Mona Lisa and it was full of Italian patrons so we figured it might be good. Good is an understatement. Full on Italian. Wine, bread, pasta. It was an excellent dinner. So full I couldn't... More

I've seen this place for years of course, but first time eating here left me with a bad taste in my mouth both figuratively and literally. It's a really pretty place but everything is way too salty. Their house Sangiovese (two of us ordered this )is horrible. Thank goodness the other four of us ordered a CA bottle of Pinot... More

They call them self an Italian restaurant, but they serve American style pizza. The staff wasn't friendly at all. And for one person 40$ might be fine if it is a good restaurant but not for what they deliver. Wine was way to warm, pizza was not tasty and the salad was just oily.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighbourhood decorated with colourful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighbourhood.
