One word. Lorenzo. The owner who will make you smile and give your table an unforgettable evening. Food is very good. Lamb dish is superb. The branzino excellent. The gelato a recipe from grandma. A lovely nob hill gem tucked away that only the locals know about. Worth booking a table right now!!

I came there for dinner and I took the ravioli with some white truffle. The service is remarkable and the place is just charming and peaceful. The value quality-price is excellent.

There are so many good places for excellent Italian food in San Francisco. This is not one of them. I've been here numerous times and customer service has always been poor. As you'll note from other reviews, people often feel that they are infringing or inconveniencing the staff just by being there. However, I overlooked it because the restaurant is... More

We enjoyed the experience in this smaller restaurant in Knob Hill. The food was great, the service was good and it was comfortable for a party of four to have a conversation. We would definitely return when we are in the area.

Returning after six years to celebrate here again, and they did not disappoint, seating us at the loveliest table in the room, pampering us with complimentary bruschetta, tiramisu, as well as glasses of sherry on top of our very delicious meal. The owner was present and attentive to every guest in this full Friday evening dining room yet there was... More

From the time we arrived to the time we left the owner was on the restaurant floor making sure all the guests were well taken care of. Rose petals on the table and roses for the ladies add a touch of romance. Nice choices on the menu.

This is one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants anywhere. Owned by two Italian brothers, who own two restaurants (one in San Fran and one in Rome). Fresh simple awesome. I first visited with my wife, on the recommendation of the concierge at the Ritz. It is small, and quaint, and homey. Lorenzo greeted us at the door, wearing a food... More

From the reviews it looks like a battle is raging between local devoted loyalists and some cranky trolls. For the record, the host is energetic, welcoming and authentically Italian. The food was well prepared, especially the tiny asparagus appetizer. Osso Bucco was good but sauce not very complex. Fettuccine nice with black truffle grated right on top by owner in... More

This restaurant had been recommended and of course I wanted to see for myself. We should have known from the word go what it was going to be like. The owner was not so accommodating when my husband complained his chair was broken. From then on, it went further down hill. My husband did not receive the right food and... More

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
