We stopped in here for a quick lunch whilst doing the typical tourism of Pier 39 post Alcatraz island. The staff were welcoming and accommodating with a high chair for the baby. My partner had the clam chowder in the bread roll which was nice but heavy on the bread and light in the chowder. I can't help but think that dish is a gimmick wherever you find it. I ordered a crab cocktail as I wasn't very hungry. They delivered a crab salad to me instead which was much bigger. I told them it wasn't what I'd ordered but that I would have it so long as they only charged me for the less expensive item I'd ordered... So I could eat at the same time as my partner. They said I would have to pay for the crab salad if I took it. So I sent it back and waited for the crab cocktail instead and we just had to eat one after another which kind of ruined the experience. The food was nice but nothing to write home about. The prices were predictably poor value for money given the location. I'd steer clear of this place again and instead look off the beaten track for something more authentic. The ferry building has some good alternatives bit also expensive.

I’ve tried several restaurants here and personally think that Pier Market Seafood restaurant is the best restaurant there in terms of taste, price and service. Clam chowder and the fish and chips were delicious. Service was fast and friendly too. Excellent all around!

Really surprised! I was worried that it’s touristy location would be problematic but it’s made them great at accommodating families and serving up food quickly. I tried two of my husband’s three shrimp combo dinner and they were delicious! I had the half of a crab appetizer as my main with a side of broccoli. Easier to prepare I suppose but still wonderful The bread is tasty as well. Kids meals came out a bit before ours which is 💯. Great views too!

My wife and I ate here twice within two months and both times it was delicious. The first time there was no one there on the wharf so we were seated very quickly and got our service almost immediately enjoyed the crab-cakes and the calamari along with the Moscow mule. Second time the wharf was a little bit more crowded so we had to wait for a table of course it was one of the warmest weekends in San Francisco. Once we were seated we were served rather quickly enjoyed some garlic fries, crab-cakes, and calamari all were excellent again. I think next time I go I'll try something different but it's hard when these were your favorites. You may have to wait a bit to get a table if it's during the weekend, I recommend coming during the week which we did for our first time. Food and service were both excellent if you're on the wharf I definitely recommend it.

Had dinner here, me, my wife/daughter & granddaughter. We all just had a main course each. I had the grilled chicken breast served with rice and vegetables, it was very tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meal too, but the batter on the fish was a bit thick. The child’s fish and chips was a decent sized portion. Service was friendly and efficient. We had a great table overlooking the waterfront.

I enjoyed lunch on he patio at Pier Market Seafood Restaurant at Pier 39 in San Francisco. I started with clam chowder.. Trout was nicely prepared and came with potatoes and vegetables. I enjoyed a refreshing raspberry ice tea with it. Service was very good.

We choose this restaurant to have late lunch while visiting Pier 39. Food was very good with reasonable prices and with very good service. Two clam chowders, two mains and bottle of wine (plus service tip) was just 128$. Besides that menu has many options and this is a place worth coming back to try more things. Highly recommended

The restaurant was freezing and the food was sub par. It was in the 50s and we were quite cold. We asked to be seated inside to be warmer and the temperature was the same. All of the doors were opened and it was very windy. We even got the added bonus of being sat by the garbage cans which were literally right at our heads. We got an appetizer of mussels, which was missing some of the meat, so our waitress, who was quite nice, brought us another dish. The two dishes tasted completely different and the 2nd one tasted bad. My girls love mussels and they wouldn’t even finish them. My girls got the seafood penne and ciopino. The fish was incredibly dry in both of these dishes, which was a majority of the seafood. I got the fisherman’s platter. 3 shrimp, calamari, and one fried cod piece for $24 bucks. The cod was the best part of my meal. Fried fish shouldn’t be the highlight of a “fine” seafood restaurant. My wife got the mixed grill and was very happy with her food. Will never come back here!

Thank you for dining with us and taking the time to write a review. We take feedback seriously and use it to improve. We are sorry to see you did not have a great experience, and that our open doors for COVID safety air flow made the restaurant colder than ideal. We do hope you give us another try next time you are in the area.

We walked in around 6:00pm on a Monday night without a reservation and were able to get a table by the window. We each started with a glass of wine (Folie a Deux Merlot, $13.50 for 8 oz.) and the Sourdough Garlic Bread ($6.50 for two large pieces of bread and very delicious). We were going to leave and try to have dinner somewhere else, but decided to stay here and have dinner. We realized we should have ordered a bottle of the wine ($37.00) instead of having four 8 oz glasses ($54.00). For dinner we had one order of Fisherman’s Platter ($23.95, large patter of shrimp, calamari, and fish and chips) and one order of Pier Market Mixed Grill ($27.95, fresh salmon, pacific cod and shrimp skewer). Food was served hot, but the bread and wine were the best. Our server Ana was very good.

This is one of several restaurants on Pier 39. Great location and views. The staff was efficient, but not overly friendly or helpful. We had a variety of seafood dishes and each seemed slightly off the mark. The steamed muscles had a lot of onions which sweetened the broth and cut the buttery garlic flavor we expected. The shrimp in two separate dishes were tough and over done. Everything was edible, but not overly pleasing. The prices are lower than its “big sister” Fog Harbor, but everything from service, menu, and quality of food were a distant second to Fog Harbor. One of my party remarked that comparing this place to Fog Harbor was like comparing the minor leagues to the majors. If you are looking for a seafood restaurant for a family with children, without completely breaking the bank, this is a good choice. If you want an outstanding seafood dinner and great service, and don’t mind paying more then go to Fog Harbor.

Always plan out meals in advance when on vacation. After searching all the options in area, we decided on this one due to all the seafood options they offered and price. Also, they accept reservations which was a big plus. They didn't disappoint....the food, service, views, beer selection were alll wonderful. Wife and kids all had the mixed grill while I tried the Cioppino. Great meal and overall ambiance.

We arrived in San Fran, Cali Wednesday night, and new we wanted to go out to eat on the Wharf in San Francisco. When we landed around 6:30pm we looked up the Pier and made reservations online which was very easy. I love the option you can make a request, therefore I made a request to sit by a window with a water view. We sat immediately when we arrived for our reservation at 8:45pm for a table of 4. The prices were average. We live in upstate New York, and did not find dining here overly pricey. I had the linguini with clam sauce which was only average, however the fried fish dishes and crab cakes were very good. The fish was very fresh. Not the best place to go, but we were satisfied with 3/4 of our meals. I think the linguini with clams could have been more tasty. 24.95 for the Linguini- you do not get salads with your meals.

I was quite surprised to see how highly rated this place was, as our meals were not particularly great. We ordered the garlic bread, and it did not taste like garlic. It tasted like oil and herbs, but not garlic. It was also hard to pull apart. It either needs to be cut better or served with a sharp knife. We did not finish it, which has never happened before. I ordered the fish and chips, and I found the fish to be very greasy. My husband got the salmon burger, and he said the same about that. Neither of us finished our entrees. Thankfully, the seasoned fries were good. Overall, I wouldn't go back here. I would try something else on the pier. The only thing nice was the view of the pier (though near sunset it can be blinding near the windows).

The Pier Market restaurant is located on the west side of Pier 39 approx halfway down the pier. Excellent Clam Chowder and the special (Salmon fish & chips (garlic fries) as well as the coleslaw was outstanding. Try to sit out side and enjoy some excellent people watching. When you are done with your meal, walk out to the north end of the pier and enjoy a nice view of Alcatraz island, the Golden Gate Bridge and the SF/Oakland Bay bridge.

The view, near a window, was great (of the harbor/dock area). There is also outdoor seating available. We got there early (11:15 am local time) on a Friday and were seated right away (we had a reservation but it turned out to not be necessary at that time). The service was prompt and the food was very good. My party shared a sourdough bowl of clam chowder that was delicious. The only thing that detracts from a higher score is that the menu is not expansive. There is a good selection; just not great variety. I wanted scallops and that was not on the menu. The fisherman's platter is listed only as fried, not grilled. But again, we all found something we liked. I had the Shrimp combo Fest. Prices were not bad either. I definitely recommend it.
