Travel to many places and to SF often, without previously frequenting Barbarossa. On 09/22 I was in SF when a companion suggested a visit. Some background, I am 65 and usually dress in a spot coat and fedora when towning. My companion for this evening was 35 so when we walked in we stood out. We found two very comfortable... More

Hi, the name of the place is Barbarossa, and ended up here after dinner just to check it out. There was no cover and the place was nicely filled...No where near capacity(the basement dj was not going on and a far back room was also closed off). The bar did a good job making it still seem like a great,... More

The Barbarossa Lounge calls itself The cocktail bar and cocktails they have. From their Seasonal Grog which consists of mixing three ingredients: spirit, citrus and water. They have strawberry, tarragon, lemon or blackberry, thyme, lemon or kiwi, mint and lime. All their cocktails go for $12. We settled for Buckley's City Hall made with aged rum, smith and cross rum,... More

First problem: They have a couple of bouncers who make you wait outside when the place is practically empty. I guess they think that this will give the impression to passers by that they are popular. Once you get in the drinks are overpriced and not particularly good. Atmosphere is decent otherwise it would surely have had one star. Give... More

We so adore this place when my friend and I hanged out in this place in the heart of SFO. The service was indeed 5 star, high-end beautifully classy crowd, we were not stopped by one of the staffs and question our attire unlike one of the clubs we went to, they have wide array of selections of champagne, cocktails... Been there on Friday night. Their champagne choices are decent, and their food is just ok food to compliment champagne. But I rate them as "absolutely horrible". Because of the following incident: my partner stretched her legs on a coach (sounded like a good idea after 2 glasses of champagne). Just go horizontal on the coach, nothing else. Not even... More

I was visiting and I waited in line for an hour becuase apparently that night it was free. I heard that other nights there is cover fee with no wait. [If you slip the bouncer some $ you'll get in no problem.] I probably went on unfortunate night because it was beyond crowded on both the main floor and lower... More

Unbelievably unprofessional and tacky. Don't go there. Spend your money and time elsewhere. I would hope that this bar doesn't last long...don't have parties don't be friendly don't encourage this business to continue the disservice to the service industry

The environment is dark and sultry, it is very relaxing to sit on the comfy sofas. We ordered champagne, after all it's the Bubble Lounge. At first the staff was helpful and knew what they were talking about but upon throwing a couple of more poignant questions their way asking for suggestions, they missed the mark. I suggest you go... Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
