This is a high class restaurant offering inspired selections of food for aesthetes. Everything is beautifully served on generously spaced tables by expert staff; prices on the high end.

Michael Mina's namesake restaurant in this upscale part of SFO lives up to its Michelin star! All of us enjoyed the delectable 5-course vegetarian fare...good wines and great service as well....

I went to Michael Mina's just after it opened many years ago and it was disappointing in decor and food. I decided to try it again almost 10 yrs later. It is located on California Street in the old "Aqua" restaurant space. The decor was much improved with table linens instead of bare tops (originally) and we were warmly greeted.... More

We had a lovely meal here. In case you see the menu online and wonder what the two different dating menus are, the cheaper one gives you a choice for each of the five courses and the more expensive one is an eight course menu with all of the selections add by the chef. We did the five. The portions... More

Everything was so so good, food, service and wines. We opted for the wine pairing and the sommelier was very knowledgeable, when my husband didn't like one they happily swapped for another. We had 5 courses and they were all perfect, I was definitely full when I left.

My wife and i were walking up California street when we walked past this restaurant. it looked really cosy from the street. Our baby daughter was asleep in her push chair so we decided to go in and ask if there was a table for two available. A few minutes later we were seating and the waitress produced the 5... More

We had a business dinner here 2 nights ago and everyone was blown away. Dinner consists of a 5-course prix fixe menu with about 3 selections per course. There are also upgrades available for some of the courses at an extra cost. A wine pairing menu is also available. The food was outstanding, of course, and the service was on... More

An elegant and sophisticated restaurant in the heart of the Financial District in San Francisco. Discrete, but efficient service, beautiful plates and cutlery. The menus is relatively limited, which is likely to guarantee freshly cooked food. Mainly focused on sea-food though some meat dishes are also served. Whereas the food is of good quality, I was not overly impressed by... More

Spectacular...yes, I know. Sounds rather dramatic. We enjoyed the Seasonal Five Course Menu which included many fantastic flavors. The tuna tartare was one of my favorites. YUM Service was outstanding.

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
