Everything seemed just ok. Steak was average and the grilled sea bass was alright. Service was good and the drinks were nice.

As a resident of San Fran, I do business lunches at the different restaurants on Belden. I like Belden Taverna but also I like B44 & the Cafe Bastille. This small street which goes North to South with NO cars is fun for a short block in the Financial District - don't let the guys/gals with menus real you in... More

We enjoyed our meal at Taverna - there were a bunch of restaurants right next to each other in this little alley and we chose Taverna. it was a chilly night so the heaters on the outside terrace were appreciated! Service was good. I enjoyed the peach and arugula salad, very fresh! My mom and I each go the sea... More

I tried the Pan Roasted Wild King Salmon which exceeded my expectations. Good service and nice atmosphere in amongst the other restaurants in the lane.

I was with three colleagues and we just happened to stop here for a drink. The staff was so friendly and helpful that we decided to stay for dinner. Everything we had was amazing. We started with some great risotto short rib appetizers for the table and each got something different. Having tried both the short ribs and the pork... More

My husband and I attended a 1976 8th grade class reunion. It was at the Belden. Had four choices on our menu. All looked wonderful. I had the fried chicken with mash potatoes. Very tasty. Generous portion on the plate. My husband had the salmon. Small portion and they forgot to give him the veggies other plates had. This is... More

We like Taverna 'cause it is a great happy hour Italian trattoria. $5 wine, inexpensive bar food. Good crowd too.

The chef had no good day when I was visiting. Dish 1 was luke-warm and didn't taste. The servant kindly offered to replace it. One good thing about my second choice was that it was warm. I have seldom had so bad food in an Italian restaurant as this one.

Was really looking forward to this restaurant having read other reviews. Things started ok, we were seated by a friendly waitress who took our drinks order. We looked at the menu to find it was very reduced compared to the one I'd looked at on here. We proceeded to order and the starters arrived quickly. The problems started when the... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
