Lovely little vibe, strong Italian influence with some celebrity photos on the wall.
Service was very good, pricey but so is everything in San Fran.
I had meatballs and my friend had a pizza! It was very flavoursome! Defo recommend this place.
Arrived an hour before closing. Staff was clearly not interested in serving us. They were too busy cleaning up. Have never been in a restaurant where they put the chairs up on the tables next to you while you were still eating. There were at...More
Great atmosphere, loved the short story machine, nice waitstaff. I ordered the cream of portobello soup and my daughter ordered the prosciutto pizza. Maybe it was all the high sodium, maybe it was something else, but within 20 minutes of eating, I wasn’t feeling well....More

Saturday night, visiting San Francisco for the first time. Most of the top reviewed restaurants were full and we were looking for an interesting place to have a light dinner. We found this cozy restaurant and ordered some Italian style food.

The Coppola connection drew me to Cafe Zoetrope. I wasn't disappointment, but also wasn't overwhelmed. They do have a good range of the Coppola wines (and a full bar). They charge a bit of a premium for the wine.
The food was fine, but not...More
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style.
Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
