So this picture of the saffron ice cream brought us in but sadly they didn't serve it this way to us. Food was really good and staff is nice. Fairly small dining area, limited congested parking available. Enjoyed all the family's historical items that were...displayed in the entry area. Will return. Read lessMore

I was disappointed with my online order, unfortunately they didn’t pay attention to both food quality and also packaging, we received the food in very bad shape, the Ash was half full, watery and tasteless, kabobs were dry and not tasty, and there was a...little rice in each box which didn’t seem to be steamed, it looks like the rice was made in a rush, and kabobs and Ash were left over from days before! I am wondering how the restaurant supervisor doesn’t care about people by providing poor service despite charging higher than other similar restaurants!More

The food didn't taste the way it supposed to be for that recipe. Food quality was not what we expected.

Sorry to say that I was very disappointed with my takeout today!! Either the cook is not an experienced one or he/she is too busy to pay good attention to prepare the food the right way , The rice was not cooked properly (more like...boiled ONLY rather than steamed !), The Fessenjoon was watery and full of cinnamon rather than having a sweet/ sour taste with a creamy consistency , And last but not the least, my husband found hair in his food( Ghormeh Sabzi with rice) which really was a total turn off !!!!! I hope the people in charge of this well known restaurant which has been in business for so long, take a note and pay more attention.More

The quality of the food was below standards. Every item was from the previous day, and it was microwaved. The owner claimed that the meat is Halal, but It is doubtful. The owner made numerous offensive comments about religion. He claimed that he was a...pilot in Iranian Air Force but the aircrafts that he claimed he had flown, some of them do not even exist.More

Horrible App. First time we wanted to try them out. Downloaded the App. Didn’t give me option to enter card details, so clicked “pay at pick-up.” Then got “card not accepted”. What a joke. Pity, food looked interesting.

We got a gift card and had never tried so that got us in the door. A little push since we were apprehensive if it would be our type of food. Well if yummy food is a type, then count us in for this place!...Amoo was there and very welcoming. He explained how he started the restaurant and the food. We did try an eggplant dip with warm pitas - very delicious and great flavor. We also had a mixed grill so we could try a few of the meats - beef, lamb, chicken, and kebabs with rice. The meats were tender and flavorful. I'm glad we did try something out of our comfort zone and we will definitely go back and try other dishes. I think it must be a popular place as it was reserved and filled up quickly so recommend a reservation as well. I did notice a lot of take out bags as well. Very nice and caring service, great and interesting food, and a local place, what more could we want. Absolutely a great place!More

The restaurant is in a small strip mall, but that just disguises its value. It's Persian (Iranian) food from a 40-year refugee, with all the tastes of home. We started with a roasted eggplant appetizer (Kashk Bademjan Dip, sautéed & pureed Persian eggplants with caramelized...onions & drained yogurt, for $8), a crispy rice dish (tahdig), topped with a choice of Amoo's stews ($15), and shared Chimichurri Lamb (a lamb loin filet with green chilies & cilantro, for $23). Finished with saffron ice cream. Not a bad dish in the bunch -- all top-notch. If it were closer to us, we'd go nearly every week.More

Amazing food, grilled and Persian stews. And don’t forget the saffron ice cream. The grilled chicken tastes great and reasonably priced. Owner almost always in the store and graciously thankful for the business. The fresh bread that’s served also tastes great. I v been to...this place more than dozen times and will keep returning.More

We hadn't had middle eastern food for a while, so our daughter recommended we try Amoo's Restaurant. It is a small plain restaurant with outstanding food. It was busy & there were lots of take-out orders being prepared. Hummus was very good & since I...can't eat gluten, the waitress bought me a dish of cucumbers to enjoy it with. My husband ordered the saffron chicken which was delicious. I chose the Fesenjan - which is chicken with pomegranate/walnut sauce. I also ordered the rice with raisins, pistachios & orange peel. It was heavenly. We had enough left-overs for another dinner for each of us. The only thing that surprised me is the cost of a glass of wine - $11. Not worth it.More

Though I hesitate to complain about carry out food during this pandemic, I have to say that my recent order from Ammo’s was the worst I’ve seen in the last four months. Their signature tagid rice dish was so dried out that the “crust” would...break your teeth. (I’ve had this dish at Amoo’s before, when it was delicious.) The accompanied beef stew was not what I ordered, and tasted like it had been stuck on the stove top for days. I won’t even mention the salad. There are many other local places in the DC NOVA area that offer fine carry out food: Maya, Takumi, Crystal Thai, Rus UZ, Lebanese Taberna, Present, and others, including the undiscovered gem Chill Zone.More

We had takeout from Amoo’s tonight. In the past we used to dine at the restaurant but have been enjoying restaurant food only through takeout since mid-March because of the pandemic. With Amoo’s the takeout is just as good as the food served at the...restaurant. It is hard to imagine a more delicious dinner, no matter the price category. We each had the kobideh-lamb combination, and there is plenty left for tomorrow. Each kabob was full of flavor, moist, and delicious. The sides were fantastic, too. We also ordered hummus, which makes hummus prepared by anyone else taste bland by comparison. I don’t know how Amoo’s consistently provides top-quality, delicious food at reasonable prices, but we will keep returning. We want this gem of a restaurant to survive the pandemic and well beyond!More

The takeout I ordered from Amoo’s two days ago was outstanding. My husband and I ordinarily eat at the restaurant and have enjoyed it every time. Because of the COVID-19 threat, restaurants are only open for takeout now. Amoo’s takeout food was every bit as...delicious as the food served in the restaurant. It was packed beautifully and delivered to the trunk of my car by an Amoo’s employee. We had two combination dinners including kobideh, lamb, and chicken plus the best hummus I’ve ever had and salad. The meat was tender and juicy with fantastic flavor, and the portions were ample. The rice. salad, and bread were equally delicious. We will be heading back to Amoo’s soon for more takeout!More

Their rice with berries is good. Portions are reasonable. Chicken kabobs quality is inconsistent, sometimes they are moist other times they are dry.
