I am an Appleton resident and I love this place. Their food is clean, the place is neat and people are great. Keep up good work.

I've been here a couple times, both times I wondered how it could take so long to assemble a sandwich when there's barely any customers. Everything is pre-cooked and that's probably why the chicken is so dry. Local pizza shops in the area will cook it fresh and get it to you faster. With all that said, the plus is... More

We went to the Appleton Bakery for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and were able to enjoy lunch outside on one of the two tables available. There is indoor seating but it was a beautiful day and preferred eating outside. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with Avocado and my wife had a egg sandwich on a bagel. Both were... More

Great sandwiches, croissants and cookies. Good and strong espresso. Great atmosphere. I definitely recommend it for a breakfast or afternoon snack.

Popped in for a latte and was so impressed with the goodies in the bakery case, I got a muffin. Oh my goodness. Zucchini muffin---fabulous. The latte was great. The staff were super friendly. Half dozen or so tables to sit at. If I lived near this place, I'd be in every day. Yum.

I love the food at Appleton. The sandwiches are great! Unfortunately, the service is always slow. And...if you go later in the day, they run out of things. I'll keep going back, but it would great to see them improve the service (meaning how quickly the food is prepared, people are friendly).

We are staying within half a block of this cafe so after reading the fantastic reviews, we had to go there. Perhaps the previous reviews led to unrealistic expectations but I was really disappointed. Yes, the coffee was excellent, as was the service and the ambiance was most pleasant. But, the berry bread pudding was not good (tasteless, day old... More

I'm not usually a fan of French toast but I'm glad I chose it for breakfast at the Appleton Cafe - it was absolutely delicious. We loved this friendly, modern little cafe on a leafy street corner with big windows letting in sunshine and light, and a cute shaded outdoor area. I am heading back for an omelette after seeing... Staying in South End

Neighbourhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
