Tex-Mex in Boston might not be Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio or El Paso, but it is both traditional, authentic and very good. Both locations for Sol Azteca are worth the trip although parking nearby can be a little scarce. One of us found the salsa and chips served with the dinners just spicy enough, but the rest do like... A friend and I came here for dinner in the middle of the week, and it was great! Service was attentive and friendly, and the food was delicious! She ordered a beef burrito, and I the enchiladas verdes. Both came with huge portions! We were stuffed and happy! To make the trip even more memorable, I had coffee flan for... More

Really enjoyed the authentic meal. Not your average Mexican. Fresh ingredients, great service and nice tequila drinks. Crowded, recommend reservations.

Boston has very, very few authentic Mexican restaurants. This is one of the best we've found. Terrific mole and other traditional dishes. Hearty portions, reasonable prices and very attentive service.

I haven't written a review on TripAdvisor in about 2 years, but I had to come back on for this one. This is the WORST Mexican food I have had in my life. The steak was tough, over cooked, and fatty. The food is honestly disgusting. My girlfriend and I agreed that Taco Bell is 5 star dining in comparison.... More

I have been coming here for more than 20 years - this is not anything like fast food - so don't even put it in the same box. Their truly authentic food is amazing, large portions - terrific sangria - great atmosphere (there is one in Newton Center too). I particularly love Mole sauce (you either hate it or you... More

Very unassuming but great food. The queso asada was ridiculous!!! Tostadas excellent, get the homemade habinero sauce if you like spicy!

We searched TA for a Fenway area restaurant that would take a reservation before the Billy Joel concert. I happened upon Sol Azteca and so glad I did, making the reservation through Open Table. We were seated outside on a lovely warm evening. Three of us shared a carafe of their house sangria... Great flavor with cinnamon spicing. Jim asked... More

We walked from our hotel the Hotel Commonwealth to eat at this restaurant. Everyone here was so nice. The food was great and the location was a great neighborhood place.

Staying in Fenway / Kenmore

Neighbourhood Profile
Fenway / Kenmore
The Curse of the Bambino may have ended years ago, but loyal Red Sox fans will continue to infiltrate this home to historic Fenway Park, where you can find victory banners, people yelling in stereotypical Boston accents, and lots of sports bars. Located within Kenmore Square, the old gas station Citgo sign is another Boston skyline classic seen throughout the city. In addition to a hectic and diehard sports mentality, this neighborhood is also home to some of Boston’s many universities. Move from Boston University territory to that of Northeastern, and spend time at the famous Museum of Fine Arts. For more culture, check out the smaller but equally beautiful Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Continue off the beaten path and check out the green space in the Back Bay Fens, a pretty community garden. This diverse neighborhood has a mix of universities, sports, culture, and more residential green space.
