Great 83yr old family business. Right in between the business buildings. Straight from the ocean food as it back to the wharf in downtown Boston. Free parking also!

Thank Joesigs

Such a great variety of food be it eating there or taking it home. Lobster and crab rolls were delicious.

My son moved to Boston and he brought us here to try the lobster roll! Oh my.......delicious! My husband just arrived home from visiting our son this week and they walked to James Hook to have 2 large Lobster rolls (20.00 each), 1 Lobster Bisque (7.50) and chips (1.00). I am reading the receipt. They loved it.

Thank robertprestoncon2017

I am a local and have been taking lobsters to travel every time I leave town to visit friends - which is often - for years. I have a system... I call ahead and tell them what I want. 8, 12, 20 lobsters (1.25/chix size) for example, "packed to travel." They pick them out of the tank, put them in... More

A lobster party sounds like the best kind of party ever! It's great to see that you always enjoy that lobster as much as we do. Thanks for all of your support throughout the years! Yours, The Hooks More

Lobster is synonymous with Boston. The lobster rolls at James Hook are AMAZING. I wish they were less expensive - as then I would have had two - but the quality is worth every penny.

We've been here since 1925, and we appreciate that sentiment, Sara! Thanks for always having our back. We hope to see you back soon for more lobstah. Yours, The Hooks More

Yummy lobster and simple quick service. Not much room to sit down but doesn't matter cause the food is good. We still got our food very quickly despite it being busy.

Thank Lydia C

Setting: Right by a main road, but it's nice, especially on a sunny day outside. Has a real fisherman feel to it and that's good! Food: Large lobster roll: Great, overfilled! Dressing was not over powering and lobster tasted fresh. The roll is not a brioche but a crispy bread roll, which is nicer and lighter. More expensive than Luke's... More

Thank Jonathan L

We decided to order a large lobster roll and a crab cake to split. Wish I had ordered my own lobster roll!!!! It was absolutely delicious. Would make a beeline for this place when we get back to Boston.

Thank famtrav07

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
