We had calamari, lobster rolls, and good beer. Simple and delicious. They let the ingredients shine through here. The setting is very casual, and the service was busy but great. (The waiter may also be the bartender?) Really good food.

Pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. The oysters were fresh and good - recommend. Our other choices - their signature lobster sandwich and seafood platter were ok, nothing special. Overpriced a bit, to my opinion. Positive experience overall.

The staff is great and friendly, the food is fresh and tasty. The salty dog is in Quincy Market so you can do some strolling around to walk off the meal and have some dessert another nearby spot within the market area.

Downstairs in a small bar had the spicy clams appetizer and a couple of beers. Bartender was nice and was quick. Cool little place to hang out.

The setting of the Salty Dog seems great, hidden just beneath Faneuil Hall but it is instead crowded and dark. The food was extremely expensive which would be fine if you were getting a really good meal. Unfortunately the meal was the most basic of bar foods.

We sat at the bar and had oysters and a drink. The beer selection was limited but the bartender was very helpful and gave us good suggestions. A variety of fresh oysters are available. It's a little cramped but overall, we had a positive experience.

Great service, but we were the only ones in the restaurant. Had the chowder and lobster sandwich...Very good but expensive..$27.95 for the sandwich.

Went out for dinner with the team in Boston, found the Salty Dog and thought it looked good. We were wrong, dead wrong. Have to say that the service was good; the food on the other hand wasn’t even fit for a dog. Fish and Chips I figured as a safe bet, once again……dead wrong. Others tried numerous options on... More

AJ offered his suggestions and they were spot on. We started with a dozen Chatham oysters that were so good we never used the sauce they came with. My wife had the appetizer version of the mussels which are cooked in a white wine, garlic, butter and caper sauce. This unique addition of capers really set off the mussels. They were better... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
