Even though we were clearly tourists, everyone made you feel like you were an old friends. Great attentive service throughout the meal. Lots of choices and everything was prepared well. The risottos and pastas are the stars. Nice wine list with good selection of Italian wines. Try the tiramisu.

Had a very nice dinner with friends in this restaurant. The atmosphere is very comfortable and welcoming. Our waiter was very friendly and got the service just right (not too much, not too little). I had the lobster ($32) which I felt was overdone as the meat was mostly gummy and in some parts not actually that nice. For proper... More

Excellent minestrone soup to start with enjoyed in an atmosphere that makes you feel like you have been transported to Italy. Soft, dark ambience, not noisy, extremely attentive service and a nicely varied menu and wine list made for a good experience here. We chose nightly specials of a veal chop--very hearty and earthy--and the bass--perfectly prepared and elegant. But... More

This amazing jewel on quaint Charles Street in Boston has everything you want and none of the crowds and chaos of Newbury St. and the North End. Open windows onto Charles Street, diverse menu, and food to die for. For lunch, we shared caprese with some of the best burratta cheese I've ever had, creamy, sweet and just a touch... More

If you're looking for penne pasta with vodka sauce this could be your place, but don't limit yourself! I had the special veal dish stuffed with prosciutto and asiago cheese topped with an amazing mushroom cream sauce and was ready to lick the plate! The prosciutto was excellent quality and sliced thinly the way it should be, the cheeses were... More

A great choice when you want an excellent meal in a comfortable atmosphere... and don't want a staggering bill. You always feel that you get what you pay for here. The chow and service are sure to please. The pastas are highly recommended... like the half portion option which is a great starter. I ordered a new dish on the... More

My wife, son and I have visited most of Boston's neighborhoods over the years and we are always on the lookout for a good place to dine. Believe it or not, this was our first visit to Beacon Hill and Charles Street. While our hotel's concierge recommended a restaurant for lunch in the area we were instead immediately drawn to... If you have out of towners you MUST take them here. Not only is it located on one of the most funky streets in all of Boston but it is the best place for really excellent Italian food. After listening to the enormous number of specials you will feel full! And they will create if there is something else you... More

Did not know there were at least two locations, so made reservations at the wrong Toscano. Walked into Toscano at 47 Charles St. (not where we made the reservation), and they were VERY accommodating on taking us AND calling the other location to cancel. Great atmosphere and excellent food, and among the very top in service of all restaurants I've... More

I visited Toscano with my girlfriend recently and was left with very mixed feelings about the place. The decor is beautiful and romantic as other reviewers have said. The service was prompt, if a little in your face. When ordering, I asked the waitress for a recommendation as I couldn't decide between two dishes. The waitress told me she could... More

Bring your walking shoes, camera, and select a nice day to wander through the hilly neighborhood and check out its exclusive addresses. Louisburg Square, Mt. Vernon street, Chestnut street and the extremely narrow and widely photographed Acorn street make a nice walking path.
