Highly inventive, top quality produce, great wines and prices to match. On the occasion of our 10-yr wedding anniversary, we went for the whole 10-course extravaganza + wine pairings and it was flawless. Mast time we were there was 8 years ago and I must say that I like the new location better as it is less formal. Only slight... More

A year ago we dined at this restaurant and thought it was outstanding. I had been thinking about that experience for one year and was afraid that the next time it could not live up to my expectations. I was totally mistaken. It was even more rewarding this time. The service, atmosphere, food, and experience was "out of this world".

I am not a snob, but when I spend $650 on dinner for 4 (without wine) for a special 60th birthday dinner at an exquisite restaurant like this, I do not expect to see people loping through the dining room in jeans and pullovers. What a way to spoil the magic! Everything else was superb - the food, the service,... More

Great for couples. Very good service, great menu and will definitely go back. In Boston I would say its definitely one of the best restaurants if not the best.

I took my beautiful wife to Boston to celebrate her birthday and we booked a table at this fabulous place on the 27th March.. It was also the Resteraunts 35 th birthday and they compiled a tasting menu to die for... The service was impeccable, servers attentive & knowledgeable... The price of the evening, due to it being their birthday... More

I had the pleasure of dining t L'Espalier for my birthday dinner. We chose to do the Spring Degustation Menu with the Six wine pairings. This included: 2006 WESTPORT RIVERS, “CUVÉE RJR,” BRUT, WESTPORT, MA Butter poached Casco Bay lobster with sugar pumpkin mousse, Maine mussels, and red curry 2010 DOMAINE DE LA BERGERIE “LE CLOS DE LA GIRDARDIÈRE”, COTEAUX... Last week, on Friday, March 22, our family of 4 went in to celebrate one of our daughter's birthday. WE were given a nice table, as we had requested. I would say the food was good but not exceptional. I would recommend the chef to replace the sweetish, dessert-like offerings at the very beginning with something else, more savory rather... More

My boyfriend and I visited L'Espalier for our anniversary a few months ago and had an absolutely wonderful meal. I'll start by saying the service was top notch, absolutely perfect. We enjoyed several appetizers and our main courses were amazing, tons of flavor and perfectly balanced. After dinner we had a selection of cheeses and then finished the meal with... More

Pretty pricey, but really wonderful experience. The service was excellent, the food delicious and the tea was exceptional - beginning with the "garden in a glass" through tasting almost every one of the teas on the menu! Highly recommend for a special occasion.

Stopped in one afternoon for a cheese plate after hearing about the breadth of their cheese selection. Eighteen cheeses expertly selected, described, and presented. A cheese lover's must do!

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
