Our family took my mom to Mamma Maria's to celebrate her 80th birthday. The food was absolutely delicious. Our waiter was so attentive. The atmosphere in this townhouse restaurant was so cozy and charming. We had a wonderful evening.

We actually chose this based on TA ratings and overall it didn't disappoint. It is in a charming old building with character overflowing. Beautiful lighting made for a romantic location filled with couples. We had an early next day and chose a half bottle of wine for $30. It was about a small glass and a half for each of... More

Romantic , beautiful settings. Very conviently located. Food was amazing. Bay scallops with "baby pea tendrils" appetizer was excellent. Ronnie, our waiter was very attentive. End of the evening, our waiter, Ronnie, asked if we needed a cab. He ran out of the resturant, up the alley to hail a cab. He was waiting at the corner with a cab... More

Fresh meals , cosy atmosphere, friendly staff. Oh, nice wine as well... All ingredients were there to make us have a great diner. Had the Bay scallops pasta, my friends the lobster ravioli and the beef... all tasty and fresh. Would definitely go back.

Under the direction of John Magee, MM always offers a delicious and relaxing respite from the busy urban life nestled in North Square overlooking the downtown skyline. Favorites are the scallops, rabbit and is Osso Bucco

What a great restaurant in Boston's famous North End. Terrific service, food and atmosphere. This upscale Italian restaurant serves up wonderful food in an intimate and romantic environment. This is not a spaghetti and meatball place. The Grappa list alone is worth giving it a try. We can't wait to go back.

The food and service were great! The menu was upscale and non traditional. This is not a red sauce joint. As good as any upscale Manhattan restaurant in a warm and intimate environment. You will not regret trying it and we can't wait to return.

Mamma Maria remains a very special restaurant for many reasons. The location and setting in the North End is beautiful as is the restaurant interior. The service is professional and, most importantly, the food is first class. After many visits over the years, it is very impressive that they have been able to maintain such consistent quality. Make sure you... More

The North End of Boston contains a collection of Italian restaurants; Mamma Maria is the best I have been to. In what must be a converted apartment building, the restaurant contains multiple separate semi-private rooms. For our dinner, no one else was seated at the other two tables in our room, which was great. I tried the Ossobbuco (veal shank)... More

Crowded and dark. I had to use my phone to read the menu. Staff was friendly and efficient, but the food was good, not at the level expected of a fine italian dining experience. I ate the rabbit Pasta, which was pappardelle served with rabbit. We had wine and an appetizer. Universally not impressive. Many of the dishes listed here... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
