We didn't stay long - just long enough for a Boston champagne (prosecco, raspberry liquor and lime). Great atmosphere, great service!

Personally, I liked the cozy, unique, and charming atmosphere of this downstairs restaurant and bar. We had already eaten dinner and peeked through the window to an Edward Hopper scene. We were going to have a drink but stayed for several and ordered an appetizer. Interesting and engaging conversation with a local and the bartender from France. New Yorky. The... More

It was just terrible. I've written many reviews. This is my first to say terrible don't go there. And to make it worse, it was expensive. Ugh.

We saw this restaurant walking by and decided to try it. The food was good, well-prepared and promptly served. Although we ordered a wine that we knew and liked, our host Peter suggested we try a much less expensive wine which was marvelous (Anselmi Soave). As it was a slow night, we were able to enter into some amusing repartee... More

We have just returned from the most excellent evening in the wonderful and knowledgable hands of Chris at The Hungry I. If you enjoy excellent food and a wide and delicious wine list (expertly maintained by Chris) this should be top of your list. For quality and taste of superbly selected (local and sustainable where possible) dishes, for perfectly matched... More

I went here on a date with my boyfriend as one of my last meals in Boston before moving out of the city. I had stumbled upon it with a friend a couple of days before (though they were unfortunately closed at the time), and the owner actually let us come in and look around and I knew I wanted... More

We celebrated our engagement here and I was very disappointed with the price. They noticed we were celebrating and brought over some port for us but then charged us for it. I wouldn't have minded but we didn't ask for the port so thought it was a bit annoying to be charged for it. Overall the place is cosy and... More

The Hungry I has been in Boston for a long time and when I lived in Beacon Hill, I would walk the restaurant on a nearly daily basis. I had always wanted to try it, but at the time did not have the money to do so. Last night, I finally realized that wish. The restaurant is cozy and would... More

A charming bistro in an 1800's brownstone on Charles Street. The place is particularly attractive if the weather permits sitting in the romantic garden as the interior is a bit cramped and could get loud. The food is excellent, mostly French with some variations. The ambiance charming, and the service acceptable though not a strong point. - all in all... More

The Hungry I was a recommendation of the hotel concierge and we were very pleased. It is located on Charles St. and is below ground with window boxes at eye level (when inside) . The tables were nicely spaced and the food was very good. The servers were helpful and quick to respond to any request that we made. We... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Beacon Hill
Visit this historic and ritzy Boston neighborhood to soak up its classic New England charm as you stroll down cobblestoned, gas-lamp lined streets. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and select a nice day to wander through the hilly neighborhood and check out its exclusive addresses. Louisburg Square, Mt. Vernon street, Chestnut street and the extremely narrow and widely photographed Acorn street make a nice walking path. Make sure to meander down Charles street to poke into boutiques and antique shops, cafes, and restaurants on this quaint shopping street. Don’t forget to catch a glimpse up close of the State House with its beautiful and iconic dome.
