Good neighborhood restaurant. Service is always good and food is generally good. Price is right. Bar is good and Paul will take care of you.

Good bar, the price on the food is very decent and the portions are very good. The taste is good, nothing fancy.

The prices were fair for a large city. If you have a party, then it would be an OK place to go. Personally, I did not like my experience there. I am staying at a hotel across the street, so I thought it would be easy enough to drink there and enjoy myself for the evening with the other travelers.... More

Just suffered through rubbery chicken tenders, a "half" rack of ribs (barely a quarter) and yesterday's french fries.

Ate here while visiting the Boston area. Went about 7pm and they had run out of prime rib. Ordeted a steak instead. The rest of the family were finished and I hadn't recieved mine. When it did arrive it was rare and I ordered medium. It came with fries and I ordered baked potato. They were very apologetic but I... More

For several years, I have been meeting my sister and brother for lunch at the 99 in Charlestown. We chose the location for convenience but have continued to go there each year, because of the warm, friendly service and the always reliable food. We ate at the bar where our bartenders Kathy and Mallory always take good care of us,... More

Hungry, don't want to spend a lot, short on time, want "choices"/a little variety - & definitely don't want fast-food??? - then, 99's a good choice. Even get adult beverages ... Compare that with your Happy-Meal. These guys have a good market niche & execute to plan very well. Note: for whatever reason, their dine-in seems to be much better... More

As usual, the 99 provided a good, quality meal at a reasonable price. I usually have a burger at the ((, they are so delicious, but this night I had the fish tacos. They aren't as good as a seaside restaurant in Mexico might be, but they still hit the spot. Add a couple of beers and it was very... More

Went for lunch with the boss. Nothing fancy, and just an average burger. The bartender Malory was nice and did her best. When she wasn't busy with customers, she took that time to clean, which was great to see. The burger was slightly overcooked, and had no discernable flavor and there was a small/inadequate portion of fries. I visited the... More

Staying in Charlestown

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlestown’s hilly roads, narrow streets and gaslight lamps, make it an enticing neighborhood to visit. Follow the Freedom Trail over the Washington St bridge from the North End or take the scenic water locks to Paul Revere Park. Walk through City Square and stroll down cute Main street, wandering up the windy residential streets to Monument Square, where you can learn about the city’s history along with a great view of Boston at the Bunker Hill Monument. While it’s not a huge area, there are some excellent restaurants. Find your way to the Charlestown Navy Yard, which is a developing area with lots of condos and an additional site for Massachusetts General Hospital research centers. Here you will also find the USS Constitution Museum. After you’re done, hop on an MBTA ferry at the dock on Baxter street and zip on over to Long Wharf and the New England Aquarium.
