This place has a great beer selection. We didn't try their food, but the it looked good. Just a word of caution, if you are planning to go here with kids, don't bother; kids are not allowed. We learned that the hard way the first time we tried to go here.

I want to become a member which requires drinking 200 (different) beers in six months. This tavern impresses with 500 (member) mugs dangling from the bar, and their boastful beer book. Amazingly, the food is fabulous -- and after midnight, everything on their menu is $6.99!

On Saturday night you couldn't get near the placed, standing line out the door for half a block. But Monday it was wide open so I had to see what all the fuss was about. Well, it is very long and narrow and runs adjacent to a metro line or something that is below it. The bartenderess was SO FRIENDLY,... More

This was one of our favorite bar with my husband when we used to be students here. After a year and s half away, we came back to Boston and of course Bukowski was on our to do list! But what a DISAPPOINTMENT!! We were greeted by this very nasty waitress. When we told her she could change her attitude... More

Before visiting Boston, I looked up look food options. Several blogs recommended Bukowski's. My friends and I were thrilled that we gave it a try. Not being the biggest place and just a few blocks from Fenway, it was packed after the ballgame. Managing to get a table, we loved it. The burgers were fantastic. The buffalo chicken balls were... Do Not Go Here If You Want A Nice Cocktail! They serve beer! Lots of beer! A lot of different beers! (Fair Warning is don't get offended by how the menu reads) Go for the beer! Go for the atmosphere... check your attitude at the door.

Stopped in early for a quick refresher after taking a morning stroll that started at the convention center. Needless to say, I was thirsty. The selection on tap and in bottles is great, the bartender was sassy and didn't take any crap. The beer was cold and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommended stop. Did not sample the grub fare.

Fantastic beer list that rotates regularly. Also had some great appetizers, house made veggie pot stickers chuck full of edammame and carrot, and white trash poutine tots. Both came out fast and were fantastic for a cheap price. Friendly staff working and great conversation at the bar.

Unlike many places in Boston, this place has a good social atmosphere. Great beer selection and great burgers (one of the best in Boston). Casual, unpretentious and my fav local bar. Food happy hour also a bargain...burgers for under $5. Only downer, is cash only. Recommended.

I would give this place 5 stars, but they are cash only. Time to get with the times! The attempt to create a 'bar fly' atmosphere is lost in the fact that Buk's is located in a heavily-traversed area of Boylston Street. Go for a hot dog, a quick Pabst, and enjoy the people watching.

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
