Was staying in the north end and wanted something other than italian. Went to the Black Rose for breakfast and was very happy. Really good food. Authentic Irish service. They were just getting the live music going as we were leaving but they advertise 7 dats a week.

Just went to the Black Rose for a anniversary lunch and it was excellent. We had beef stew fish and chips a cup of clam chowder and a beet salad. Do go there for lunch. Yum yum. It is a Irish pub so it will be a little noisy. Just do not sit at the bar ( plenty of chairs... More

Amazing Irish pub with live irish music being played everyday. Nice food and crowd too. Go there after 8.30pm to witness the live music being played, that is when they usually start playing it. Drinks are cheap as well.

While staying at Marriott custom house the black rose was just across the street. First day in town we tried it for lunch. So glad we did. Clam chowder was yum...as was Rueben sandwich. Sam Adams beer nice and cold. Service terrific. Fact we had a discount helped. Went back another time and had a bowl of chowder instead of... More

THis tourist trap is a faux Irish pub. Food is mediocre. Service is totally lame, inattentive. However the beers on tap were great

If you want an authentic Irish pub, this is it. Guiness stout on tap and Irish whiskeys. Good menu, food and service were good.

Would love to give this place a good review since I'm of Irish heritage, but my wife and I stopped in for lunch and were really disappointed. Chowder, barely passable. Cobb Salad, ditto. Fish and Chips, so average it was painful. Plus, although there were only a few people there for lunch, the servers all huddled near the cash register... More

Stopped here mid day, decent crowd was there for lunch, we were there to have a few cocktails. Good beer selection and cocktails. Service was great! I was told that they have amazing live music nightly, but we never got back to hear it for ourselves. Large and pretty authentic.

Great Irish pub near some cool attractions. All of the food we ordered was great but what made this stop worthwhile was the bread pudding. That is a must try!

We stopped in for our first dinner in Boston. The beer and service were nice but the food was just average.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
