We enjoyed dining here while staying at the Hotel Commonwealth. The dinner was very good, I had the pasta special. Portion size was a little small for the price. However it was made up for by the Butterscotch Bread Pudding with Salted Caramel Ice Cream. This may now be on my top ten dessert list. Unbelievable!

While staying at Hotel Commonwealth we had lunch at Eastern Standard. Requested a high top in the bar area which was perfect for an informal lunch. Excellent service from our waiter with excellent recommendations. Mussels were large and plump in the most delicious broth I have ever had- very generous portion. Homemade pastrami sandwich was also a home run. We... More

My sister and I sat at the bar and slow rolled dinner. We started with some different cocktails from their craft menu and a cheese board, soup, and bread. I had the special of the evening, Chicken Kiev. Tasty and moist. I didn't love the beans that accompanied it, but I'm not a big fan of beans in general. My... More

I've had ES on my list to go back to for some time. We had a good dinner, but I was looking for it to be much more. Service was ok. Menu options were good, so nothing bad. Just was expecting more given its reputation.

Had breakfast here one day on a trip to Boston and, while there was nothing wrong, it just felt okay which is strange given that the place itself is lovely, the staff are great and the wait was non-existent. My wife had eggs benedict which looked and tasted great but my scrambled eggs tasted as if they were packet eggs... More

Loved the Eastern Standard - part of the Hotel Commonwealth. The charcuterie ($17 USD) was simply amazing, very large, beautifully presented. Really good selection of meals on offer. The flat iron steak was excellent. So was the fish special of the day. Staff were attentive, loved the atmosphere of the place. The daily wine carafe (about $17) was great value.... More

From the minute you walk in the door you feel great. You leave great because of the wonderful atmosphere (really cool leather booths), the service, the food was first class (far beyond none), and of course we were treated with extra special care and love by the beer manager on site, Ricky Czachor, who treated us warmly because we word... We've eaten at Eastern Standard twice before - our daughters recommended it a few years ago. We're always happy to return - the service, ambiance and quality are top-notch. We've never been disappointed...and, certainly, as long as we're vertical. Thank you "V" - for your outstanding service on our recent visit!!

Staying in Fenway / Kenmore

Neighbourhood Profile
Fenway / Kenmore
The Curse of the Bambino may have ended years ago, but loyal Red Sox fans will continue to infiltrate this home to historic Fenway Park, where you can find victory banners, people yelling in stereotypical Boston accents, and lots of sports bars. Located within Kenmore Square, the old gas station Citgo sign is another Boston skyline classic seen throughout the city. In addition to a hectic and diehard sports mentality, this neighborhood is also home to some of Boston’s many universities. Move from Boston University territory to that of Northeastern, and spend time at the famous Museum of Fine Arts. For more culture, check out the smaller but equally beautiful Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Continue off the beaten path and check out the green space in the Back Bay Fens, a pretty community garden. This diverse neighborhood has a mix of universities, sports, culture, and more residential green space.
