The interior is lovely - like an upscale bordello - and the service spot-on, but the menu is boring, esp for vegetarians - and the food is not so great. They need to get the food up to the standard of the furnishings and service.

We had a table at 5.15 pm on Saturday and the place was packed. We were sat promptly and after initially rejecting a table in the middle got one of the very lovely booths. Had glasses of wine and they were very happy to provide...More

We dined here by chance - we were staying at the Hotel Commonwealth and arrived too late for our original reservations elsewhere. What a blessing. The bar is amazing. It's said to be the longest marble bar in Boston. I think it might be true....More

Had dinner at Eastern Standard while staying at the Hotel Commonwealth. The service and drinks are the best in Boston. My wife and I had main courses (rigatoni with cheese) but I think we would opt for appetisers or sandwihes the next time. Great people...More

I would call the restaurant. One of our party asked for gluten/free bread and was told there wasn't any. However, the server brought a little dish of some kind of cold marinated veggies that she was happy with.

Agree about calling ahead and asking. It is a very large room, but crowded. Also, check and see if there are any events occurring that date because that makes a huge difference in boston. Graduations, marathons, Red Sox... More

I suggest you call the restaurant as soon as possible. It was pretty busy when we were there but we got in because we only needed a table for 3. Arranging big parties should always be done ahead of time. Have a good time!
