The food here is not the usual fare you find but you will feel good after eating here. The portion is right size and better than most other places around.

The Okan Diner I found was on Clairement Mesa Blvd. in San Diego. If you like nice, spicy and thick noodles, I have just the spot for you. This location is just off 805 and it is worth your time. I ordered a bowl of curry thick noodles and I was not disappointed. This restaurant does not kick in any... More

I like eating at OKAN add they have interesting selection of Japanese dishes. They are completely different from the formulaic Japanese restaurant sing the country as they focus on small family dishes. Everything is good. The best was the fried calamari legs

Great place for lunch. Not your typical America-based Japanese restaurant that just do rolls and sushi. They do more home-style dishes. Gets packed, so try to get in before the lunch or dinner rush.

This place is a gem of a place. I was told this was Japanese comfort food and I not not being Japanese ancestry, I had no idea what it meant. I now know that it means delicious food. Although the portions may seem small by American standards, let me assure you that the food is very filling. My husband and... More

Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall in the Pacific Triangle area of San Diego, this place serves the real deal Japanese food. It is close to all the major freeways and worth the 20 minute drive from wherever you are staying. Serves delicious small plates that will please Japanese food novices and Japanese okans (moms).

Hole in the wall but one of the best japanese restaurants in San Diego. The price is ~$25 per person, but no reservations meaning long waiting unless you go early or late.

Small, Busy Japanese Restaurant, lots of variety, fresh food, attractively served, pleasant-friendly service. The counter has the best seats in the house. We will go back.

It a tiny little place making very good Japanese lunch. The menu is very simple but they done it so well. Everything taste homemade not pre made. Miso fish, tofu, Squid salad were all excellent. If you know Japanese food and looking for something authentic, this is a good place to go.
