We've been going here since they were on Goldfinch Street. Tried other BBQ's but we always come back to Phil's. Great quality, taste, and portions - all for a reasonable price. It's worth waiting in line!

I love this place! When it opened up in Santee I was so excited because the line was not so crazy, and it was less then 10 minutes away! I do not like spicy so the first time I ate here I was not impressed, BUT when I came back I asked for the sauce on the side and it... More

Which ever Phil's you go to expect long lines. You are "processed" quickly by the cashiers and then will get a great BBQ meal. The meal size is just right so that you will have no need for a doggy bag. If something is lacking its just the rush and crush of it all. It's like going to Costco on... More

Over due rating. Been going to the Sports Arena location since they opened. I hate mayo! But OMG their potato salad is the best! I know it's not 100% mayo they use, either way I don't care because its delicious. I get a large size just for myself. Everything is great good tender meats. I usually do El Toro sandwich.

The brisket sandwiches are EXCEPTIONAL. I am from Texas and this is the closest to Texas BBQ that Ive had since I've been in San Diego (almost 1 year) I highly recommend them. The coleslaw is great too!

This place is waay overhyped. Their sauce is overly sour for my taste. Lucille's is better. Its great how they have lots of locations though.

Simply the best BBQ food I've ever had. I had the Beefy ribs / chicken combo and my wife had "The best of both" - both were fantastic! Be warned the portions are massive.

For the past 17 years, BBQ lovers across San Diego County have turned to restaurateur Phil Pace to satisfy a singular craving: mesquite-grilled baby back ribs, beef ribs, chicken and sandwiches. Serving thousands of customers a day from a diverse clientele of skateboarders to Bentleys, Phil has built his foundation on consistency, quality, freshness, and friendly service. "We thrive on providing each guest with the 'Phil's Experience', which basically comes down to organized chaos," laughs owner Phil Pace. "The biggest reason behind our success is our loyal customers who have supported us and waited in line for a taste of BBQ for the past fifteen years. "Since opening its doors in San Diego in 1998, Phil's BBQ has served over one million pounds of BBQ sauce (enough to fill Shamu's tank).
