My friends and I were walking around Gaslamp when we found Maloney's. The 1st floor was dead... maybe 6 people. It was easy to get a drink at that bar. Downstairs has the dance floor and pool tables. They play great music. A lot more people downstair having a lot of fun.

More like a dorm rec room with a bar attached. Irish in name only. If you want the Irish experience and great food and drinks with the Irish flavor go to 'The Field" or "Dublin Square Irish Pub & Grill" this place is not up to the quality level that the Gaslamp District has going on ! C&H

The door guy said it was a $10 cover charge per person but that all drinks were $1. He lied. The dollar drinks were of the cheap stuff and didn't include red wine, scotch or Crown. When I mentioned it to him, he snapped at me and called the manager over. We basically stayed for 1 drink, that cost more... More

This place is in a great location. Located on a lower level, It's perfect if you're looking for a quiet place to drink, relax, and escape the outside world for a bit. The drink list is extensive, and the bartenders friendly. The atmosphere is fun, and there are pool tables and a dart board. Love this place.

In spite of having an awesome name, this place is obviously trying to close. The entrance on fifth street was open, but the entrance on the adjacent street was a locked with no signage. We walked down the dark stairwell 6:30 PM. There was a lady at the bar and someone at a pool table, other than that the place... More

We stopped here for drinks and their overall selection was on the small side. It seems like mostly a college aged bar although it was dead in the early evening when we were there. Our bartender was an extremely nice young lady who answered all of our questions about the area and college life. She made us stay longer than... More

My friend & I were visiting from Australia & we were very impressed with the bar man. The place itself was a dive- but ended up being fun. We had "around the World" drinks- DEEEELICIOUS & super cheap!!!

Went here to be at an Irish Pub for Bloomsday. Chose Maloney's at random from the 5 Irish Pubs in the Gaslamp. A mistake. At 6:30 PM the place was empty. We two were the only customers. We left at 8 PM and they were up to a total of six customers. This place is huge but only 6 customers-... More

Ok, sure, I can see how this is a college bar and a nice hangout because of the billiards and the dance floor. However, that doesn't excuse the fact that EVERYTHING seemed to be sticky (seats, floor) and that drinks were unreasonably expensive ($25 for 2 gin and tonics), especially considering that they seemed to have absolutely NO gin in... This place made me feel old! Dollar drinks on a Thursday night were pretty awesome, but I didn't appreciate seeing barely 21-year-olds grinding on each other like they just discovered the opposite sex. I had a fun time with my friends - this is a good place to go if you want to go buck-wild, but not great for having... More
