The Hungry Pelican is a great place to eat for wonderful homemade soups, great sandwiches, and the largest fresh salads you can imagine. Good for tourists and locals.

A neat little place in a neat town. The food was fresh and tasty. We really enjoyed our lunch. Be sure to get some ice cream for dessert!

Great food! Good sides and great workers. Chipotle chicken, turkey Ruben and angry bird are my favorite.

My husband and I stopped by for ice cream after a day of biking Manteo. The owner waited on us. We both got a single scoop of 2 different flavors. What amazed us was that the ice cream was delicious and the serving size was huge and we paid just over $5 for both of us. I'm tired of paying... More

This sweet and sunny little place, tucked away in a little spot near Roanoke Island was a pleasant surprise! On our way to the annual Bluegrass Island bluegrass festival, we happened by The Hungry Pelican for a brunch/lunch stop. Once inside we were met by a pleasant young guy who took our order. We found a beautiful table in a... More

They moved on me! (since I first ate there in 2013) They used to be closer to the water, where a similar restaurant named the Hungry Pirate is now stationed - so don't get them mixed up! Stop by the candy store (the Laughing Lollipop) on your way to or from to stock up on treats for the week. You... More

Came in for ICE CREAM. The guy behind the counter was very generous with his scoops. Other places can be stingy, but you get your money's worth here. Hits the spot on days that hover near 100oF. Good selections and whether you get it in the cone or in a cup it is very good.
