When temperatures drop, you cannot go wrong with ramen. This is our favorite ramen place: delicious, fast, great service and well-priced. It is owned by Iron Chef Morimoto but is surprisingly affordable compared to his Morimoto restaurant which has since closed. We go here every week as we crave something hot and hearty deep into the fall season. My favorite is their tsukumen dipping noodles which is not available in other ramen shops in the city. Dip the chilled noodles into the rich hot broth and slurp! Don’t pour into the noodles as it will be too salty. The menu is well-edited and you cannot go wrong with anything really but our favorite appetizers are the brussels sprouts and pork belly bao (better than Momofuku’s). They do not accept reservations so prepare to wait during peak hours and seating is communal for small parties.

Went here on a whim as it was a short walk away from where we are staying and we were truly blown away! The ramen is delicious and tasted very authentic. There was a good deal on that included a main and appetiser for $30 which was very good value. The drinks were lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful! Would absolutely recommend!

As per the title.
Those who follow me know that I rarely assign the maximum grade (or five dots) precisely because the location must either excite or surprise me as happened in this very interesting Asian place in the Mid Town East area.
Good reception, room distributed over a room not too large with a maximum of forty seats.
Not too wide menu consisting of oriental dishes (I do not consider it a restaurant ONLY of Japanese cuisine) where the highlight is the soups / ramen.
The latter are really excellent both as a broth and as a composition and finally as a raw material.
Not bad also sushi as a quality / cooking rice and as a raw material.
Quick and friendly service.
Very good value for money (for being in NYC )
The only flaw ... you have to book early or be very lucky:)))
Recommendation without reservation especially if you like the genre

Great sake choices (carafe = 3 glasses, $24), delicious sticky ribs ( 2 ribs, $11. a la carte) but all three of us were so disappointed in our ramen soups. Four bite size pieces of chicken thigh meat in the chicken ramen (($25 for app and soup, or $18. for soup). The Tan tan and another Ramen soup were spicy but otherwise unremarkable. The worst part of the entire evening was the music that was being played. It was so loud that we couldn’t even hear each other speak, and the worst part of all was that it was heavy metal. Awful! It was enough to make us never want to return again.

We sat at the bar and enjoyed the atmosphere and music. The bartender was very attentive and served us right away. We enjoyed the sake and had several varieties. We also ordered the pork gyoza as an appetizer and it was delectable! The ramen was to die for! Tsukemen was spicy and incredible! Full of flavors, rich, and tender! My wife loved the Tonkotsu which had pork broth and pork belly. Some of the best ramen we’ve ever had!

A highly recommended place in NYC for both quality and price. We liked the quality of the dishes. The ramen was exquisite and if you ask for it spicy, it's very spicy. Quite a pleasure. On another trip to NY I would return to this place.
The treatment of the staff has been friendly but if you reserve everything will be easier

Very nice restaurant. Very pleasant staff. And very good value for money. The appetizers were good and the ramen excellent! My partner enjoyed her chicken broth a little less because she doesn't like mushrooms and we didn't expect it to taste as good.

If I could indicate a lower rating I would. Imagine its 11:30, they just opened. Not a single person inside. Yet the "hostess" wouldn't sit me until my associate showed up. Finally after, threatening to leave, I was seated but not at a comfortable table whete I would be able to talk business, but rather a communal table with unpadded seats. Remember there was no one else there. I left and went to Dimsum Garden where I was seated immediately at a very comfortable table. If this places food is as shifty as their service I would expect to get sick.

Being a ramen lover decided to try this place out upon good reviews, but unfortunately this place was such a let down.
First, right when we entered the restaurant no greeting no warm welcome.
Second, asked the older server lady what was most popular and if she had any recommendations. she was not the nicest and responded in an irritated tone.
Third, decided to try the shoyu food came out the chicken topping was cold! told the server chicken was cold and she says it's suppose to be cold just warm it up in the soup, but soup was also room temperature...
i guess it was an off day? overall it wasn't a good experience

The place was packed out, which was a great indication of the meal we were about to have.
The starters and ramen were great, with strong flavours and rounded spices.
A little surprised that there was no hot sake on offer but we assumed that may not be a “thing” in NYC.
No big deal really.
Bench seating shared with others and a swell of conversations around us, all added to make the place feel ‘homely’.
A nice evening.

Based solely on the food & drink, we would have given Momosan a higher review. Sadly that wasn’t the case.
We came in soon after they had opened for lunch, even though there was only one other couple in the restaurant we were asked to sit at a specific table, and to sit next to each other (rather than opposite). I’m still not quite sure why this is, maybe so we could hear each other over the loud music? We would have preferred to be given the choice, and others that arrived after us seemed to feel the same (going to sit opposite each other, and then being told to move). I would rather they just turned the music down.
The female member of staff serving us seemed robotic, I’m not sure if she was new, but wouldn’t offer a smile at any point and to be honest made us feel a little unwelcome throughout. She stood opposite our table and watched as we ate, and made us feel rather awkward.
Whilst there was lots of yummy looking dishes on the menu, very few of them were veggie friendly, or even pescatarian friendly (many of the ramen bowls are made with beef stock). I opted for a salmon poke which was very nice, and we sampled some sake which was lovely. A few minutes into eating, the lady serving us came to give my partner a fork (who had been quite happily eating with chopsticks) and said ‘I think you might need this’ and then walked away, which seemed incredibly rude.
When coming to pay for our meal, we paid by card, which they took away and left the tip blank as we hadn’t yet decided on what we would leave. As Brits, this is still a strange custom to us to ‘have’ to leave a tip, nethertheless we liked the food, but generally we leave this at the end. The waitress came back and pointed at the blank space on the bill for the tip with a pen and said we had missed that part. Which, consequently we ended up leaving a much smaller tip because of this.
I would recommend eating here if you don’t have any dietary requirements. Purely on a food basis and how quickly the food turnaround was I would have given it 5*. But the experience we had brought this way down.
Hopefully if you do eat here, you won’t be stared at through your meal, or given a new utensil because the staff seemed you incapable of using the one you were given.

This had been my frequent lunch spot since its opening until the pandemic. I went back and it was still as good. In the photo is Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen with extra egg and crushed garlic (I always order them).

Had a great 10 days in New York with my husband, we visited Momosan twice because we enjoyed our first meal so much. The food was amazing and all the staff were friendly and very welcoming. Would highly recommend the pork gyoza, the soft shell crab bao, spicy tonkotzu and chashu bap. Wish we had more time, we'd probably go back again!!☺️😋😋

The ramen both my friend and I had was delicious. I didn't care for the Sake but just because I'm not much if a drinker. The reason for my mediocre rating was my experience when I first arrived. I was treating my friend out for her birthday. I planned a Japanese-themed evening and after our dinner there, we were on our way to see Madame Butterfly at Lincoln Center. So, we were dressed rather elegantly and arrived a few minutes before the restaurant opened at 5 p.m. in order to not have to rush our meal and still make the 7:00 p.m. performance. We were only the third group of people to enter and I asked for a booth. The hostess who met us at the door was not very nice when she said we couldn't have one "because we just opened." She said you can sit at the bar. I said it will be difficult for me to sit at the bar in the dress and heels I was wearing. Then she said our other option was the communal table, and to add insult to injury, we had to sit next to each other and not across, which would have made conversation easier. If it weren't for the fact that it was too late to go some place else I would have. I've been to other ramen restaurants and sat at communal tables and not told that we had to sit side by side. I didn't want to make a scene and put a pallor on my friend's birthday, so we did as instructed. My friend also didn't understand why we couldn't sit at a booth as there were so few people. A party of three got to sit in a booth. Why weren't they told to sit at a communal table. This hostess was white, with very long, dark haur and overweight. She just seemed to take a dislike to me upon entering the restaurant. The waitress that waited on us was very pleasant.
