I Sodi is a few doors down from The Lucille Lortelle Theatre, where my husband and I have an annual membership for MCC Theater. We look forward as much to our dinners at I Sodi, as we do the amazing performances at MCC! If you cannot get a reservation, they have 22 seats at the bar that are not reservable,... More

This was one of the best meals I've ever had in an American restaurant. We had roasted root vegetables for starters. I love Italian caponata and I'm hard to please in that department, but this was superb. Perfectly roasted and matched vegetables, balanced seasoning, aromatic olive oil - how easy vegetables can be when you get them right! Main course:... More

Visited i Sodi twice in the past few weeks. Rita and her team continue to impress - the kitchen excels during the winter season, offering many beautiful, hearty, cold-weather options. I adore nothing more than sitting at the bar w a good friend, chatting w the bartenders and a fellow patron, considering the specials and savoring a lovely meal. Here's... More

No reservation, but heard great things. So we lined up outside @5pm. We were among the first in line, and were quickly seated by 5:30pm. Delicious drinks followed by some daily appetizers including roasted artichoke hearts. We then split the Cacio e Pepe three ways. The main course was "Tuscan Meatloaf" a daily special. This was delicious and unique. Wines... More

My daughter and I hit I Sodi before theater, but arriving at 5:30 and sitting at the counter as reservations fill up this small restaurant. What a delightful treat. We had two outstanding appetizers - fried artichoke and a sausage bread. Both were outstanding. Then we share a pasta truffle dish that was out of this world. Food, service, atmosphere... More

Visited I Sodi on the recommendation of a friend and pleasantly enjoyed the experience. We had the Antipasto as a starter and the amount for 1 person was more than sufficient for both of us - the waiter had kindly explained this to us. We both had pasta dishes for main course and they were both delicious and the perfect... More

Booked a couple of months in advance. Well worth it. The food is great, and I'd encourage you to experiment with the more outré things on the menu. The regular stuff is also excellent, but the dishes we've remembered are the more unusual ones. And the tartufo amazing. I don't remember having Italian food this good, except in Italy, and... More

Waiting on line at 5:30 to be seated at the bar. Bartender asked if we wanted water or seltzer water which eventually he refilled without asking us. We asked about open red wine for a glass each at which he poured a few drops for "tasting" my friend chose that one and I another. The unadorned plate of Lasagna arrived... More

The cooking here is excellent. The menu is unique and authentic Tuscan but the restaurant is unfortunately too tight to make it totally enjoyable. If your table is not ready when you get here you may be standing outside because the bar area is small and there is no waiting room other than a couple of chairs by the bathroom.... More

The service was incredible. We sat at the bar and quickly made friends with the bartender. Our food and drinks were perfect. The atmosphere is great!! Highly recommend it.

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
