Unbelievable, exciting, amazing, delicious, addictive. The chef's choice was the way to go. Tiny shaved jalapeño on top of yellowtail, a tiny dot of wasabi on a zigzag of squid and seaweed, more. It's all in the details. Get ready to singe the credit card.

Sushi of Gari never disappoints you. It has always the same quality and great service. It is a little expensive but it is worth the price.

This is an upscale sushi joint. My issue is this. We had the omekase, While some of the offerings were tasty, others failed miserably. An appetizer of three different offerings were absolutely terrible. Yuck! Both of us thought so. Some kind of fish congealed and sliced, an oyster sliced after it appeared poached- awful and I like oysters. The other:... More

A blend of traditional sushi with a modern take by putting a variety of sauces on the sushi. The sauces complement the sushi, not overpower the fish and cut. I usually get the Sushi Deluxe when I'm working late. Sushi of Gari is one of a few sushi restaurants that I like to visit in NY.

Excellent sushi. Expensive for what it is. Open for lunch - but they wont let you in before noon. $28 dollars for sushi lunch special - delicious sushi - waitress up sell was annoying. This is one of those pre-theater joints in Hell's Kitchen. As such it caters to tourist crowd and service is underwhelming and price is overwhelming. But... More

Pretty good sushi for American standards. Near many other restaurants and nice places to visit. This is in Hell's Kitchen.

We went here for dinner after seeing a matinee play. The waitress was very attentive and I wish I had gotten her name to give her recognition but I didn't. We ordered the beef tataki as an appetizer, it was very tasty. The sashimi that we had for dinner was good and tasted very fresh. We also got some spicy... More

my girlfriend took me here and she lives in Manhattan. It was small and quaint with really really amazing choices of sushi and sashimi dishes. This is the real deal. The inside was a bit dated which is only reason i didn't give five stars but the food, price and service are worth the experience. I highly recommend it.

We came here on friend's recommendation and it was an amazing experience. The first impression when you make it to the door is hmmmmmmm. The decor is a bit dated and the place is not too big. Well, that disappears from your mind very fast. The staff is very friendly and, more importantly, knowledgeable. We got a great recommendation on... More

We had theater tickets for a Thursday night and decided to have dinner after the play. We had made a reservation on a sushi place that had their last customers at 9:30 (bad timings since the play was longer). I had read on another app that Sushi of Gari was a good choice and closed later that night so I... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
