I (Freddie) had the carbonera pasta dish which was pretty good and tasty and it came with a raw egg aka "protein shot." lol. Big chunks of bacon came in the dish which was a pleasant surprise. Normally there are just bacon flakes or smAll pieces in most carbonera. Portion was average, for a man I'd say. I ran through... More

A nice meal, nothing spectacular, but good food. Service rather surly and it's a bit dark and dingy in the back, rather neglected. in an area where there is so much choice, it wouldn't be our first choice!

Very inviting, cozy and friendly attention. Nice gourmet dishes, tasty and generous portions inspite of being french cuisine. Live music, great ambience. Highly recommended when staying near or within the west village ,reservations required..

I have been frequenting AOC for a few years now and love to go there every other Tuesday for Gypsy Jazz guitarist (he is amazing - very talented), a big steaming bowl of Mussels Mariniere and a glass of Sancerre. Some chit-chat with the always-nice-folks at the bar, and all that is a match made in heaven. Strongly recommend this... More

Food was average - ok I suppose for what it was. Neither special or awful. But at the end of the meal we noticed mice running around underneath tables! Unbelievable, we were disgusted.

We had been to AOC once before for lunch, which was very good but not overly memorable. Our recent dinner, however, was excellent. From a lovely, freshly prepared steak tartare, to a fresh and carefully seasoned Dourade with sauce vierge, to a crazily lucious truffle mac & cheese, everything we ordered was very well executed. If you like simple, country... More

My wife found this place from Groupon and we decided to give it a try. It was far from our hotel so we took and cab but it was absolutely work the trek. Our waitress was straight out of France. I could sometimes hardly understand her but she was very good. We ordered the salmon carpaccio, I've personally never seen... More

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
