My husband and I met our friend here for pizza on a Monday night. This place has been on our list of "pizza tour of NYC" that my husband and I have been slowly working through as we live here. Motorino in the East Village is a small spot. You can't make reservations and you won't be seated until your... More

Had the margherita pizza and it reminded me of the pizza I had in Naples. Fresh tomato, basil and tasty mozzarella. Crust was a little chewy, but flavorful. Pizza s are "12 and on the expensive side. Consider a margherita pizza in southern Italy is around $4, the pizza at motorino is $15. Overall, true italian pizza, but on the... More

The crust is outstanding at Motorino. The tomato sauce was light and delicious. My preference is for a little more cheese than they put on the pie but it was adequate for a truly delicious dish.

Was pretty quiet at lunch today .. Amatriciana pizza was excellent. Wish I'd ordered one whole pizza for myself rather than sharing with my son who agreed it was excellent. Perfect "leopard spots" on the base as you would expect from a proper pizza oven. Also pleased to see a selection of rarer NY beers available .. as we as... More

The hubs and I brought our two teenage boys here for some lunch, and, although we waited quite a while to score a table, it was SO worth it. We went Margheritas all around, and they did not disappoint.

Having myself lived in Italy and consumed a fair amount of pizzas, I can honestly say that this is a true Neapolitan style pizza - and a great one indeed. I will be coming back, I can only recommend this place.

Legendary pizza that still stands tall after all these years. It is a go to place for pizza...just wish it was bigger so that I would not have to wait in a long line at lunch. Service is fast and good as the wait staff are working at full tilt come lunch and dinner.

A very small place in a beautiful neighbourhood. Staff not overly talkative but friendly enough. A small menu which is great. The Brussel sprout pizza which sounds so weird was just so great. It's a white pizza so no tomato base and the Brussel sprouts were more or less uncooked or lightly seared at best. I'd go there again just... More

The venue is rather simple, not much in the way of ambience. But the pizza is first rate. We enjoyed the Soppressata, with a salad and a glass of wine over lunch. We felt like we were back in Naples, enjoying the real thing.

I ate here last week after reading good reviews on TripAdvisor. I had high hopes for the place but I was a bit disappointed. The topping on the pizza were tasty and they even had proper mozzarella which was very nice but the pizza bread was extremely chewy. Also, the pizzas were very expensive, even by New York's standards.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
