Very good food and beer selection, nice friendly atmosphere, cool location. I particularly recommend pretzels. Definitely going to return.

Saw this cart and had to have a pretzel. Tried the truffle with cheese. Absolutely delicious. Had a rosemary with feta plus many others on display. Will try more the next time I am in town.

Went here recently to meet a friend and loved it. The staff are really relaxed and the beers on tap are great. Plus free pretzel with your first beer and there are 6 (i think) to choose from. Try the honey mustard sauce its great!

I loved these pretzels! There was a good selection of flavours, we tried the "everything” and plain pretzel. The plain was a little bit salty for my taste but the crystals can be brushed off. If we had more time we would definitely have went back to try the other types available. Don't buy pretzels from those street carts, go... More

Nice interior and the front opens to the street. Food was nothing to write home about. Had the pretzel & cheese dip...Velveeta? The grilled cheese was also just ok. A f good beer taps, but nothing to go out of my way for. I recommend stopping here for a pretzel & beer if you happen to be in the neighborhood... More

I cannot tell you how much I love soft pretzels in general and I was so so excited when I saw the ones at the Sigmund's stand in the Madison Square Eats Festival. They looked great and had a variety of options: plain, salt, everything (does not have salt), cheddar truffle, and a feta olive one. I asked whether they... More

Sigmund has a great concept. Walked in here for brunch since the restaurant next door wasn't taking anymore people for the day. Love how everything is based on the pretzel. I had the eggs Benedict. What more can you ask for an all inclusive brunch? Pretzel basket, drink, and entree. Its a small place but cozy. It was slow service.... More

My friend and I wandered into this homemade pretzel joint the day after Halloween. It is always interesting to see who manages to make it out in the daylight after a night of such insanity in NYC. It was late afternoon and Sigmund's was pretty busy. The place itself it small, with a U-shaped bar, about 6 small tables and... More

I am sure that there is something wonderful here in the summer but I went in the fall. Friendly staff at the Urban Space B'Way Bites New York ( Greeley Square Park, located at the intersection of 33rd Street and Broadway) made my one day trip to New York wonderful. I was transported to a simple time of people watching,... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
