We came on an NFL Sunday afternoon but only Italian Serie A futbol was one - and it was awesome! Everyone in there spoke Italian (but us) but it was a terrific experience. And the pizza - wow, we had a long, thin crust pizza with three different pizza types. What a delight to have the variety! And no pizza... More

Excellent.... Best Brick Oven Pizza... Salads are great... Very tasty with a citrus flavor. The pasta is definitely a must to try. The wine is fine... Try the Park Slope location...

Spent a week in East Village and dropped in at Numero28 a few times. Fantastic pizza, friendly staff and a great vibe. Indoor or outdoor dining options and the service was excellent. Highly recommend but take cash as they don't accept cards. Not the cheapest place you'll eat at but we were more than happy with the value as we... More

Although a bit overpriced; its a gggreat pizza because their sauce its amazing. Cash only could be a bit of a problem for most restaurants accept credit card. Its a guaranteed sastifaction whenever I have come to this location. $8 for a glass of pinot griggio ; so$30 per person est

This is a wonderful restaurant with outdoor seating. The food especially the pizza was really good. It was a long flat bread like pizza. The service was good except they should have mentioned when we entered that it was cash ONLY. NO credit cards. There re many other restaurants in NYC that also are cash only so you need to... More

16 $ for a tiny patella of Gnocchi that would't keep a sparrow alive? Also the Pizza Margerita for 14$ was a standard one in terms of size and taste, but certainly nothing exciting. Service was ok. Table outside was wobbly so we could barely cut the pizza without spilling the drinks. Music inside was very loud... All in all... More

Numero 28 has a nice selection of pizzas - both white and with sauce. It's a bit expensive, but I thought the pizza was quite good. I had a slice of lemon cake for dessert which was simple and excellent!

Let's start with the food! We were a group of 20 so we had a variety of delicious pizzas (vegetable, five cheese, pepperoni and margherita). We added appetizers (meatballs, calamari and arancini) and several of their salads and everyone was thrilled. Now, for the rest! We made a reservation for 20 and when we got there, the table was ready and... More

The pizza was decent, but SO EXPENSIVE!! $33.00 for a medium Margherita Reginella with super thin crust so barely filled two people. Looks so much smaller in person than it did in the photos we saw on here. Not worth $33. Totally over priced! Cash only joint too.

Description
Welcome to Numero 28 - voted the "Best Pizza in New York" by Citysearch.com readers. We specialize in authentic Neapolitan pizza, baked hot and fast in a brick oven to achieve a not-too-thick, not-to-thin chewy, smoky crust made from a recipe that's been handed down through five generations of pizzaioli (pizza makers). Our one-of-a-kind dough is then stretched into an oblong shape, topped with the freshest ingredients available and sold al metro "by the meter" just like you would find in Italy. To further the authentic Neapolitan dining experience, Numero 28 provides a casual, welcoming atmosphere of heavy wooden tables and whirring ceiling fans. Our friendly staff welcomes both neighborhood regulars and visiting strangers like long-time friends. In addition to our pizza, Numero 28 offers classic Italian dishes such as lasagna, rigatoni alla Bolognese, eggplant parmigiana, homemade tiramisu, and an assortment of antipasti.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
