I went on the Tuesday after New Years and ate dinner at the bar. The fried cauliflower appetizer was excellent, served in a moderately spicy tomato sauce. The Lotus Root curry entree a bit spicier and very well done with a very good balance of heat and flavor. Rice was fine and the onion Kulcha we as well though the... More

We went in not sure what to expect. We have eaten in so many modern Indian restaurants where the flavours are completely jeopardised but this one it is modern but the flavours are intact and true.

What can be said that is not already for a Michelin starred restaurant. Loved the ambience, the food. For my stay between 2012-2014 this was my go to place for fancy yet authentic Indian food.

This seems to be a popular Indian restaurant in New York. We visited it on a Sunday evening and the place was quite busy. Interiors are nicely done with rich Indian (Rajasthani and Gujarati) touch. Place is dimly lit giving it a nice ambiance. The bar has variety of options. We wanted to taste something different from run of the... More

Junoon is a very high end restaurant with amazing dishes available. The menu changes every week so you get to try something new each time you visit. My favourite is the lemonade. It is so freshly made the flavour stays on your palette for long. It is quite expensive but it is worth the money. The staff was very helpful... More

We were 4 and picked a different menu which allowed us to sample their many choices. I will strongly recommend their octopus and the lamb cooked with ginger and cardamom. There is wide variety of wines . Nevertheless dinner for 4 (2 adults and 2 children) was no cheap and service could be improved.

We went in for a weekday lunch. Though the reservation confirmation mentioned a 'business casual' dress code, we didn't have any issues getting in, with our jeans, sweaters and backpacks (we had just arrived in the city). The main dining hall is a huge place and was less than half full during this particular lunch hour. Service was prompt and... More

My girlfriends took me here for my birthday celebration and I was thinking why an Indian restaurant. I was not expecting good quality food to be honest or tasty. I was honestly blown away, at the quality of the paneer, and that each food item really had its own flavor. A lot of times you go to Indian restaurants and... More

It is a large place with private dining rooms, open kitchen format as well as the bar area sit in the bar area which is a better location. They have a competent sommelier who matches spirits with your choice of food. Wines are at low prices on Sunday and Monday. But look for Amrut single malt - India's very fine... More

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
