I took a client here recently and was not happy from the minute we walked in. We were shown to a table in the front of the restaurant ( I guess large parties are in the back) with an awkward seating arrangement (there were 3 of us). The service was average at best -- portions were large but nothing special.... More

I have been here twice now and the food has been consistently delicious, the atmosphere was lively and the owner is very nice checking in on some tables. Worth stopping in for at least a drink but you will smell the food and order something for sure. Great for dates and just a night out with friends. Bon Apetite!

Tucked in mid-block among Gramercy, Flatiron, and Union Square, this Italian restaurant is hard to beat. We experienced excellent service, great meals, and wonderful desserts. If you like flavored gnocchi try the ricotta dumplings. I had the scallops in pasta, which was great but I prefer a bit more flavor and/or spice. I did not want to offend the chef,... More

We booked the elegant private room at Zio for a private party. It was a fabulous experience. The room was sophisticated and chic. The ambience was beautiful. The service was impeccable, prompt and courteous. The food was outstanding. The variety of flavors was impressive. I would definitely come back here in a heartbeat for a special meal.

Lots and lots of awesome restaurants in the Big Apple - this one is a must. Great food and decent price for Manhattan prices! Grilled Octopus and Grilled Bass (special) was awesome! See pix! If you're in town a must to enjoy a great meal!

We started with the Flatbread Pizza's as an appetizer. All four choices on the menu were great! You can't go wrong with the pasta dishes, although we (four of us) had Salmon, Octopus, Shrimp and the Veal Chop. They were all great. It was one of the best Veal Chops I've had in a long while. The prices were good.

Great italian in a warm and vivacious atmosphere. Creative and delicious dishes from the open kitchen. Waitstaff is perfectly attentive and well versed to make food & wine suggestions to your palate. Organic pastas, bold flavors, and an extensive wine list. Their Spring menu was ample and featured both traditional and modern italian. Go ahead and venture in the more... More

Zio Ristorante, offers dishes influenced by flavors of the Mediterranean as well as seasonality. Lunch includes paninis and grilled pizza specialties, from a traditional Caprese, to a Crudo topped with prosciutto, stracchino cheese and arugula. Chef Max always uses the freshest ingredients and builds his menu around the seasons. Homemade pappardelle with lamb ragu & a glass of red wine will nicely round out the meal. A selection of meat and fish entrees will remain as choices as well. The dinner menu is organized by antipasti, soups/fresh salads, pizzas, pastas, as well as a tantalizing selection of meat and fish dishes. Signature dishes to start include the Riso al Salto, a crunchy saffron risotto cake, bone marrow, and gremolata sauce, to the Polipo e Panelle, a grilled octopus, with chickpea cake and chicory. The majority of our pastas are fresh made on premise. Please visit our web site for more...

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
