Made reservations for Sunday and was looking forward to a relaxing brunch but wasn't the case. We arrive on opening and ordered drinks. As we were finishing, we overheard another table being told that the chef hadn't arrived. Given that certainly some prep would have been required, if he wasn't there when we arrived, how long did they think we... More

I went to La Carafe when it first opened and the food was almost inedible (I lived in France for many years and I think I know French food fairly well). A friend recently suggested that I try it again, so friends and I reserved for brunch at noon this past Sunday. The waiter very kindly brought out Bloody Mary's... More

We went with a group of 7 and had a very nice time. Good food with good portions and very attentive service. Will definitely visit again.

We ate there twice and both times everything was so good we are considering going back for the third night on a row. Their burger is easily the best burger I have ever had. We also had the chicken and veal dishes. Also great. Same goes for deserts.

Billed as a "Wine Bar", but the food is quite good. We stopped by to have a drink and decided to return for dinner a few days later. The place was nearly empty both times, despite the fact that the food, wine and service were good and reasonably priced. Salad was served with the meal, in the French style.

I have eaten here several times in the last couple of years. Generally, the food and service is very good. Recently, however, I had the misfortune of ordering the salmon. I asked for it to be cooked "medium". It was raw in the middle and because I was hungry, I ate it anyway. Needless to say, I suffered big time... More

Our main reason to visit NYC used to be to take in a Broadway show. Now since dining out at La Carafe, this has become our primary reason and if we happen to take in a good show that is extra icing on top of the already delicious cake. From being greeted at the door by wonderful Sophia to the... More

A real good vibe in this place, sometimes perhaps a bit too loud, but good nonetheless. The potions were fair sized and the food tasted good. I chose the chicken skewer which was lovely. Friendly and hospitable service and in a good location in Hells Kitchen.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
