I ate at brushstroke for lunch today and was very impressed with both the food and the presentation. The tasting menu was quite elaborate and the atmosphere was serene. If you know anything about tea, make sure to order from the tea menu. The restaurant...More

After 22 years living in Japan, we are sometimes disappointed with the quality and ambience of Japanese restaurants in the U.S. and Australia. Not so with Brushstroke. Due to travel commitments, we only had time for the set menu lunch, but it did not disappoint...More

This was such an enjoyable dining experience. The dishes were very eclectic and beautifully presented with the various plating presentations. Unusual desserts with flavor explosion.

Had the 3 course lunch for $45. Beautiful and thoughtful. Plenty to eat. The rice course of beef cheek was reminiscent of satisfying comfort food. Excellent service!

Although it has been a year since we last visited, it certainly lives up to it's name of an artist creating something special with each dish. Nice warm decor and interesting mix of textures & flavors, making it a delight kaiseki offering.

Michelin Chef Eiji Ichimura has departed and new Chef Isao Yamada is serving a Sushi (Modern) Kaiseki Menu. The fish and seafood was excellent featuring items sourced from Japan - Hokkaido (Eel, Scallops, Squid) or locally - Long Island (Sea Bass, Squid). Attractively presented in...More

Beautiful glowing room. Lots of wood. Prize fixe menu very good. Time consuming and complex, FYI. Delicious but you have to be in right frame of mind.

Description
A collaborative effort of Chef David Bouley and Japan’s Tsuji Culinary Institute, Brushstroke presents an inspired modern adaptation of Kyoto's kaiseki cuisine: seasonally focused tasting menus that change throughout the year. Kaiseki menus in the main dining room showcase a wide range of Japanese cuisine, from delicate use of vegetables to sashimi, rice and wagyu. Options include the chef’s artisanal kaiseki menu ($135), the shorter tasting menu ($85) and the fully vegetarian tasting menu ($85). Please note that we do not offer a la carte. Sushi is offered exclusively in a separate area, where Chef Eiji Ichimura presents omakase ($160+) sushi dining. Reservations for sushi are not available online.
