We had 6 nights in NYC, and each morning I would look out my window to a line out the door and down the street to Ess-a-Bagel. On our last morning I decided I would see what all of the fuss was all about. So I joined the end of the line, and was upset that I hadn't done so... More

The line was long, the menu extensive, but worth the wait. I had a salmon spread with tomato and lettuce on a whole wheat baglel. Delicious!

Came here for a quick bagel and coffee. Huge line up but moved quickly. Delicious bagel and heaps of cream cheese. Good coffee and prices to boot!

Great bagels, but no bagel is worth standing in line for an hour+. Cappuccino was mostly foam. Wanted an everything bagel with lox and the works; next time I'll know to get the bagel from the to-go counter and buy everything else at the grocery store.

This is an awesome place, one of the best I've been to in NY. So many bagels, spreads, toppings to choose from in an authentic old NYC setting. Just beware of the ordering rules or you liable to get yelled at like on the Seinfeld episode and told "no bagels for you!".

Was in NYC and my daughter and I went here for lunch. Great bagel sandwiches! Not so organized as far as lines and quite a few of us were chastised for not understanding the bagel protocol but we didn't go for their friendliness, just their food, which was good!

It's worth the walk and the NY experience from Times Square for these warm fresh bagels. Lots of choices of cream cheese and has just as many choices of meats to make it a lunch destination too. Coffee is very good also. Be prepared to line up but you'll need the extra time to decide your bagel combo. Try the... More

Its the most fresh bagel in town, very busy over weekends and weekdays which makes all bagels always fresh. I loved my sesame bagel with sun-dried tomatoes and cream cheese.

I came as one of NY's best bagels but did not live up to the expectation. Wide range of bagels (although all looked alike) and huge range of cream cheese fillings. Staff was efficient but not very friendly, even though the place was empty. The ambience is not the best, as well.

My colleague and I really wanted a Jewish deli experience before leaving New York City. The concierge at our hotel recommended Ess-a-Bagel.Little did we know that we have to stand in line for an hour to order our our salmon and cream cheese bagel sandwich. Something to note, if you only want bagels then there is an Express Line, minimum... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
