I've checked out several soups here during my stay at NY. Lobster bisque is just delicious. Other, cheaper options are also good: "Italian wedding", "chicken soup".

I don't really understand the hype about this place. Just a regular soup stand, I would assume, as I've never been to another one and that is because I still do prefer to eat my soup sitting down. My friend, having never been to NY, wanted to try this place because of that "Soup Nazi" episode in Seinfeld. We ordered... More

Have had Tomato soup on Good Friday for 40 years so when I found myself in New York as a Seinfeld fan on this day, this was a must do. Tomato Bisque was bloody outstanding! Loved re enacting the procedure of ordering the soup as per instructions, complete with a nervous Costanzaesque slide to the left ( although the boys... More

Brought the family here mainly to satisfy my curiosity inspired by Seinfeld. Overall Lobster bisque was very good - a little on the salty side but nice big chunks of Lobster in a nice and creamy base. Lots of other great interesting soups too - stop by and pick up and soup and head for Central Park!

I love the soups here! Every time i'm in NY (which is at least once a month) i get a soup to go. My fav is the lobster bisque, but others are not bad at all!

Came here as part of Kramer reality tour and had the lobster bisque so good, you get bread, a piece of fruit and chocolate. Worth a visit.

I ordered the lobster bisque and it was absolutely the best I've ever had. The amount of lobster is surprising, and makes the 'large' enough for a meal. I will be going back tomorrow!

Straight out of Seinfeld, with Jerry Elaine and George all trying to get some soup from the Soup Man, I now understand why they lined up for so long. Beautiful Lobster Bisque. And if you do it right and move to the left as you are supposed to you also get a banana and a chocolate! Its worth the walk... More

We tried the lobster bisque and chicken dumpling soups: both were super delicious! It is a nice lunch option as it comes with bread, an apple and a chocolate! It's a take out place only!

This is one of the highlights of any trip to NYC... I'm thrilled that the chain has expanded to be in other locations, allowing more soup for me. Absolutely delicious soup.

Established in 1984. In 1984 we opened our doors at 55th Street & 8th Avenue in NYC and quickly became a worldwide destination serving incredibly delicious and unique soups & Lobster Roll sandwiches. Rated #1 by Zagat and praised by the New York Times as "Art, not Soup," we set the standard for culinary excellence long before the famous "Seinfeld" episode made us a cultural icon.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
